Samuel Geoghegan son of Thomas Grace Geoghegan and Frances Anne Purser.
Samuel married Mary Sophia Millner daughter of James Millner in 1876. Samuel was
chief engineer at the Guinness Brewery and designed a new hop store for them in
1879 (the original visitors centre). He also reconfigured the tram system for better
efficiency.* The family lived at Holywell from 1880 to 1884. By 1901 they had moved to
Killiney and in 1911 they were living at Ailesbury Road.

Ashfield, Dundrum son of John Sealy on 04.01.1902 at Holy Trinity Church Killiney.
Stella of St Margaret's, Stillorgan Road, Donnybrook died on 16.10.1923 at Elpis
Hospital, Dublin and is buried at Mount Jerome.

Stella died in 1923 and James married Mary Una Hyde daughter of Dr Douglas Hyde and
Lucy Cometina Kurtzon on 14.05.1927 at the Parish Church of St Ann, Dublin. James died
on 04.02.1949 at Donnybrook.

3 Geoffrey Geoghegan born 21.12.1881 at Holywell, Drummartin baptised at Taney
Church. Geoffrey an Engineer was educated at Cheltenham College and served as
a Second Lieutenant with the Royal Engineers. Geoffrey died unmarried on
10.02.1932 aged 49 years at 397 Antrim Road, Belfast.
4 Captain James Randolph Geoghegan 3rd son born 27.03.1886 at St Kevin’s Park,
baptised at Taney Church. James was educated at Cheltenham College of the 2nd
Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers spending some time with the West African
Frontier Force. He returned to his Regiment in April 1914 becoming Captain shortly
before his death. James was killed in action on 07.11.1914 aged 28 years and is
commemorated at Strand Military Cemetery, Belgium.
5 Howard Grace Geoghegan born 24.04.1890 at the Grove, Killiney. Howard of St
Margaret’s, Stillorgan Road married Marjorie Joynt daughter of Thomas Joynt on
05.06.1915 at Rathfarnham Parish Church.

* Two of his inventions; a lightweight steam engine with all moving parts and a haulage
wagon by which his patented narrow gauge locomotives could be used on broad gauge track,
are on show at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra.
