James Gaskin born circa 1819 was a cab owner of Kilmacud, he died 24.04.1895 and was buried at
Deansgrange. Catherine died at Kilmacud on 12.09.1898 and was buried at Deansgrange with her
brother Edward who was a head constable in the RIC, and died in Stillorgan in 1876.
1 Agnes Gaskin born 20.07.1856 and died of TB on 01.04.1873 aged 16 years at Kilmacud.
2 Mary Gaskin born circa 1858 and died on 15.12.1872 aged 14 years at Stillorgan.
3 James Gaskin born circa 1862. James a Car Proprietor died unmarried on 24.11.1915 aged
53 years at the Royal City Dublin Hospital and was buried at Deansgrange.
4 Kate Gaskin born circa 1863. Kate died unmarried on 24.04.1919 aged 56 years at Stillorgan.
Her niece Kathleen was her executor. Her property was put up for sale in 1920 which
consisted of a five room double fronted house and 6 two roomed cottages known as Gaskin's
Terrace on the right hand side of the Kilmacud Road close to Kilmacud Church.
5 Edward Gaskin born 01.09.1866 at Stillorgan married Elizabeth McLoughlin daughter of
Thomas McLoughlin on 06.10.1889 at Kilmacud Chapel. Witnesses: Richard Murphy and Mary
McLoughlin. Edward was a car proprietor and died of TB on 05.04.1897 aged 29 years at
Kilmacud and was buried at Deansgrange. Elizabeth died 04.12.1940 aged 76 at 23 George's
Avenue, Blackrock and was buried with her husband. Her daughter Kathleen Griffin made the
funeral arrangements.

Scarletina at Kilmacud and was buried at Deansgrange.
2 Catherine Mary Gaskin born 27.05.1893 at Kilmacud. By 1911 Kathleen was a
dressmaker living with her uncle James and aunt Kate in Kilmacud. She married David
Griffin a Widower and Railway Fitter of 17 Hope Street, Ringsend son of David Griffin on
09.08.1935 at the Roman Catholic Church in Blackrock. Witnesses: John Bastable and
Mary McLoughlin.
3 Agnes Gaskin born 13.07.1894 at Kilmacud died 19 Jan 1895 and was buried at
Deansgrange.
4 Charles Gaskin born 10.09.1896 was living with his aunt Jane Durnan née McLoughlin in
1901 and 1911 at Tara near Navan. He joined the army in 1914 and fought with The Royal
Regiment Of Artillery during WW1. He married Bridget Whelan of Thornhill Lodge on
09.05.1920 at Kilmacud Church. Bridget was the daughter of Edward Whelan and
Catherine Reid of Thornhill Lodge. Charles was discharged from the army in 1923 and
was working as a labourer in Westbury in 1930. They lived at the gatelodge at Westbury on
the upper kilmacud Road. Charles died 4 Feb 1963 at Loughlinstown Hospital, late of St
Philomena's Lodge. Bridget remained there until she died and the gatelodge was demolished
in 1982.
