James Rooney born circa 1789 married Anne. He was the brother of Canon Rooney pp of Clontarf. The
Very Rev Canon Cornelius E Rooney died 23 Nov 1878 and was buried in the Priest’s Vault at Westland
Row after serving at pp of Clontarf for 32 years. James was a wood valuator and died 23 May 1861 at
Dodd’s Building’s, Roundtown (Terenure) and was buried at Glasnevin. Anne died 18 Dec 1863 at Dodd’s
Buildings and was buried with her husband.
1 James Daniel Rooney born circa 1826 baptised 29 Oct 1826 at Clondalkin became a priest and
was based in Dundrum in 1861. He was transferred to Kilmacud circa 1865 and lived at
Littleton awaiting the building of the parochial house. He was transferred to the Naul in 1883.
Rev James died aged 58 at the Parochial House, Damanstown, The Naul on 27 Oct 1886. His
outdoor and indoor effects were sold in December 1886. He left £300 in personal effects. His
executor was Bernard Dennan pp, of Baldoyle, County Dublin.
2 Sarah Rooney born circa 1826 died a spinster on 26 May 1876 at 2 Dodd’s buildings and was
buried at Glasnevin.
3 Cornelius Rooney born circa 1827 died 9 Jun 1851 and was buried at Glasnevin.
4 John Rooney born circa 1842 was a farmer and died a bachelor at Dodd’s Buildings, Terenure
on 13 Sep 1874 and was buried at Glasnevin.
5 Daniel Rooney born circa 1842 was a farmer and died a bachelor at Dodd’s Buildings, Terenure
12 Mar 1892 and was buried at Glasnevin.
