William James Freeman born 27 Aug 1886 at Barrow Lodge, Graigie, Queen’s County son of
Samuel Freeman, a miller and Mary Anne Spratt. William married Kathleen Annie Muriel
Joyce on 1 Dec 1915 at the Bombay Presidency, India. Kathleen was the daughter of Samuel
Stewart Cleland Joyce, paymaster of the Great Northern Railway from Dundalk and Elizabeth
Annie Bole. William was the manager of a Bengal Flour Mill in 1916. He returned to Ireland
and was manager of Boland’s Flour Mills. He was later a director of the Boland’s Mills in
Ringsend and they lived at Glenarm, Torquay Road, Foxrock. William died at Granville Row,
Blackrock on 18 Oct 1967 and was buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan. After William’s death the
family donated plate (vases and goblets) to St Brigid’s with the following inscription. "St
Brigid's Church Stillorgan - Treasured memories of William James Freeman who died 18th
October 1967". Kathleen died twelve years later and was buried with her husband.
1 Kathleen Moira Freeman born 29 Jul 1918 at Calcutta, West Bengal, India married
Nathaniel Taylor Watson on 19 Sep 1942 at St Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan. Nathanial
was a bank official living at Templeshannon, Enniscorthy and the son of George
Vincent Watson, a retired bank manager of Brighton Vale, Monkstown. They lived
at Tivoli Terrace Dun Laoghaire.
