Fitzpatrick Family of Kilmacud Manor
William John Fitzpatrick born 1830 FSA LLD Biographer and Historian only son of late John Fitzpatrick of
Ballyowen married Henrietta Maria O’Reardon baptised in 1830 at St Andrews daughter of John O’Reardon
MD of York Street. His best known work was 'The Sham Squire, and the informers of 1798' (1866) but he
wrote many biographies including ' The life, times and contemporaries of Lord Cloncurry (1855) and
'Memoirs of Richard Whately, Archbishop of Dublin'. He was a member of the Royal Irish Academy,
Professor of History to the Royal Hibernian Academy and Knight of St Gregory. He was twice elected High
Sheriff of Longford. Though not considered an accomplished writer at the time of his death by some, his
numerous works display an extraordinary amount of research and an engaging style entirely his own.
He died on Christmas Eve at his house on Fitzwilliam Square, leaving 40,000 pounds of personal estate.

2 Elizabeth Valentina Patricia (Lily) Fitzpatrick born 16.03.1855 at Arbutus Lodge, Mount Merrion and
baptised at Booterstown married civil engineer William Joseph Fahie the son of James Fahie at St Mary’s
Church, Haddington Road on 20.07.1881. They had no children and Lily died 05.10.1905 at 49
Ailesbury Road. William secondly married Gabrielle Smyth in October 1908.

Road married John Boyle McMaster son of George McMaster of Brookville, Donnybrook on 01.12.1877
at the Registrar’s Office, Dublin.

John died 22 Mar 1889 at Brookville, Simmonscourt and Irene then married John Ross Redding on
02.10.1894 at the Registrar’s Office, Dublin.
4 Pauline Mary Joseph Fitzpatrick born 21.05.1857 at Kilmacud Manor and baptised at Booterstown and
died 09.04.1871 at Kilmacud Manor.
5 John Aloysius Mary Joseph born 31 Aug 1858 died 29.08.1860.
6 Louis John Fitzpatrick MD born 05.07.1860 born at Kilmacud Manor emmigrated to New South Wales,
married twice and died 31.07.1940 and is buried at Macquarie Park Cemetery.
7 Loftus Fitzpatrick 2nd son born 01.05.1862 at Kilmacud Manor died on 16.02.1884 aged 21 years at
49 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin.
8 Gerald Paul Fitzpatrick born 02.12.1863 at St Stephen’s Green South, married Margaret Read on
24.11.1891 at St Mary’s Haddington Road and died without issue on 09.05.1928 at 84 Northumberland
Road.
