Thomas Fitzherbert born circa 1814 of Black Castle, Navan, Co Meath married Frances Sidney
Vesey in 1838. Thomas was a JP and on the Navan Board of Guardians. He died 29 Apr 1879 at
Black Castle and Frances died 20 Sep 1908 at Barnhill, Dalkey aged 92.
1 Richard Ruxton Fitzherbert, eldest son born 13 Sep 1841 married Elizabeth Sophia (Lil)
Montgomery, daughter of Hugh Lyons Mongomery of Leitrim on 3 Oct 1865 at St
Stephens, Dublin. Richard was a member of the RDS a DL, a JP and High Sheriff of
County Meath in 1880. Lil died 17 Dec 1918 aged 77 at Black Castle and Richard died
17 Feb 1920 at Black Castle aged 78 and both were interred at Mount Jerome.
1 Richard Ruxton Walter Fitzherbert born 9 Sep 1866 at Upper Mount Street
married Violet Caroline Moffat, daughter of James Moffat of Elm Lodge Windsor
on 9 Dec 1897. Richard, a retired Major died 9 Jun 1917 and was interred at
Mount Jerome.
2 Bertram Richard Edward Fitzherbert born 12 Jan 1871 at Leeson Street. He was
the Land agent to Emo Court and worked for both the 5th and 6th Earls of
Portarlington, the Dawson-Damer family. He lived in a house on the estate until
the estate was sold in 1930. He died a bachelor on 4 Dec 1939 at Black Castle and
was buried in the family vault at Mount Jerome.
3 Lilian Gladys Ruxton (Gladys) Fitzherbert born 17 Oct 1879 at Fitzwilliam Square
married Major Wilfred Sharp on 5 Oct 1915 at Droitwich, Worcestershire and died
4 Jun 1935 aged 55 and was interred at Mount Jerome. Two of their sons are also
interred here.
2 Sidney Arthur Fitzherbert born circa 1843 joined the 71st Foot retired in 1869 and moved
to Estancia Media Aqua. He died at Killiney on 13 July 1900.
3 Arthur Vesey Fitzherbert, third son born circa 1845 married Eveline Clemina Lyons
Montgomery, daughter of Hugh Lyons Montgomery on 19 Mar 1973 at Killargue Church
Leitrim. Arthur died at Ballintyre Hall on 3 Aug 1926 aged 81 and Eveline died 12 Feb 1928
at Ballintyre Hall. Both are buried at Deansgrange cemetery.

5 Percy Hubert St George Fitzherbert born circa 1891 in Uruguay married Beryl
Dickinson in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 21 May 1929.
4 Henry Corry Fitzherbert fourth son of Thomas Herbert of Millbrook born circa 1848 at
Queens County, gentleman, land agent and JP married Mary Emily Vansittart at St James’
Church Paddington on 19 Jan 1876. Henry visited America, leaving from Cork in 1910. He
was a shareholder in the Great Western Railways. Henry died at Millbrook on 20 Feb 1924
aged 77. Mary died at Millbrook on 3 Apr 1928 aged 73.
1 Edith Clare Fitzherbert born 3 Feb 1877 at Tallyroe, Abbeyleix married Arthur Mildmay
Hall-Dare, son of Robert Westley Hall-Dare of Enniscorthy on 8 Jul 1897 at Abbeyleix
Parish Church and moved to Thomastown, Kilkenny.
2 Arnold Vesey Fitzherbert born 24 Nov 1877 at Tallyroe, Abbeyleix, Queens County was
a land agent. He died a bachelor at Waterloo Cottage, Cahir on 10 Mar 1922 aged 44.
3 Eden Fitzherbert born 24 Nov 1880 at Tallyroe in the Queens County married Dorothy
Rose Newell daughter of Robert John Newell, barrister and Frances Anna Scott on
19 Sep 1907 at St Anne’s Dublin. Eden was a stockbroker and partner in Dudgeon and
son. He was a well known angler, river conservationist and was also on the board of
the Shiels Charity Foundation. The family lived at Burton Hall from 1927 to 1939.
Eden died 13 Apr 1954 at Merlyn Park, Ballsbridge and Dorothy died 29 Apr 1964 at
Merlyn Park and both were buried at Deansgrange.

Dundrum.
2 Eden Sydney Fitzherbert born 2 Sep 1909 at Rosemount, Avoca Avenue married
Muriel M O’Dywer, daughter of Col M O’Dwyer at Christchurch, Kensington in
December 1937.
3 Rosemary Dorothy Fitzherbert born 13 May 1911 at Rosemount, Avoca Avenue
married Owen Murphy of Blackrock and son of J X Murphy, later governor of the
Bank of Ireland at St Mary's Church, Holyhead in September 1933.
4 Thomas Arnold Vesey Fitzherbert born 4 Jul 1916 at Tudor Hall, The Hill,
Monkstown. He joined the British Army and lost his leg during WW2. He
married Roonah Mayne, daughter of Henry Mayne, Solicitor of Hillside, Killiney
on 22 Apr 1942 at Holy Trinity Church. Killiney. Thomas was living at Swynnerton,
Foxrock at the time of his marriage.
4 Cecil Henry Fitzherbert born 18 Jan 1883 at Millbrook, Abbeyleix was a land agent. He
joined the British Royal Air Force during WW1 and attained the rank of Captain. He was
living in Canada with his cousins Evelyn and Henryin 1911 . He married Ellen K Lowndes
at The Wirral, Cheshire in 1916 and died at Bridgetown Wexford in 23 Nov 1952.
5 Aileen Fitzherbert born circa 1886 at Abbeyleix, Queens County. She died unmarried in
1976 and was buried at Abbeyleix Church of Ireland graveyard.
6 Isabella Beatrice (Isabel) Fitzherbert born 7 Apr 1889 at Millbrook, Abbeyleix married
Richard Brook Butler Stoney, son of Charles Butler Stoney, and Major in the RFA at
Aldershot at Abbeyleix Parish Church on 7 Aug 1919.

6 Selina Letitia Fitzherbert eldest daughter born circa 1853 died at Barnhill Dalkey on 8 Mar 1922
aged 69 and was interred at Mount Jerome.
7 Edward George Corry Fitzherbert, sixth son born 1856, died 30 Jun 1870 at Balbriggan aged
14 was interred at Mount Jerome.
8 Edith Emily Margaret Fitzherbert born circa 1859 married Clifford Lloyd of Victoria Castle on
7 Oct 1896 at Holy Trinity Church, Killiney. Emily died aged 88 at Glenageary on 30 Mar 1947.
9 Hubert Vesey Fitzherbert youngest son, born 19 July 1862 died at Dawlish in Devon on
16 Feb 1888 aged 25 and was interred at Mount Jerome.
