William Hamilton Field, born circa 1757 was a surgeon on the HM Frigate "Success". He married
Rose Broomhall Jones, daughter of Thomas and Rose Jones at Monkstown Church in 1788.
Rose's father Thomas John Jones owned much of the land around Newtown Castlebyrne which
Rose received part of as her marriage settlement. William died 27 Jan 1832 and Rose died
11 Nov 1845 at Field Villa, the home of her son Henry. Both William and Rose are buried at
Stillorgan graveyard.

graveyard.
2 Henry Cary Field born circa 1792 married Jemima Nixon, the daughter of Montgomery
Nixon, MD, of Lakeview, Enniskillen in 1822. Henry graduated a doctor of Medicine from
Glasgow in 1825. Henry was the Medical officer for Stillorgan from 1828 until his death in
1851. He was an MD and lived at Field Villa, Blackrock. He was elected a life member of
the RDS on 28 Feb 1839. His proposers were Sir William Betham and Isaac Weld. He was
a member of the chemistry committee of the RDS from 1849 to 1858, and a chemistry
representative on the council from 30 Jan 1851. Jemima, his wife died 19 Apr 1851 at Field
Villa and she was buried at Stillorgan, her sister Mary and four of her brother Frederick's
children were buried in the grave next to her. Henry died 11 Jan 1858 at Field Villa and was
buried with his family at Stillorgan graveyard. He left effects just under 6K to his niece
Rose and nephew William, his only surviving relatives. His death was reported to the RDS
council on 4 Feb 1858. Field Villa was adjacent to Laurel Hill, now underneath the Blackrock
Shopping Centre.
3 Thomas Jones Field born circa 1799 died 12 Feb 1803 aged 4 and was buried at Stillorgan
graveyard.
4 William Jones Field born circa 1800 graduated AB from Royal College of Surgeons. He
married Dorothea Boileau, the widow of Thomas King in 1833. William an MD and Medical
Officer for the Blackrock dispensary, died at his home on Booterstown Avenue in March
1835 aged 34 from Typhus. His pew at Booterstown Church was put up for sale or let in
1836.

Elizabeth Montgomery, eldest daughter of Robert Montgomery of Crofton Tce., at
Monkstown on 8 Jun 1858. They lived at 6 Martello Avenue, Kingstown. William
died 14 Sep 1912 at Middlesex.

Rochfort Battley, the son of Thomas Cade Battley, barrister, at St Peters Church Dublin
on 6 Oct 1863. Rochford was a member of the Royal Yacht Club in Kingstown and a
member of the Irish Model Yacht Club. Rochfort was a clerk in Public Office and they
lived at Ashgrove Terrace in Kingstown. Rochford died 26 Oct 1866.
