L’Estrange Family of Market Hill, Fermanagh
Major Christopher L’Estrange of the Kings County Militia son of Henry L’Estrange of Moystown, Kings
County and Mary Carleton. Admitted to the Inner Temple in 1794 married Jane Jackson daughter of
Colonel George Jackson of Enniscoe MP for Mayo. Christopher of Market Hill having inherited the
Carleton estates assumed the name Carleton on the decease of his mother in 1830.

years at Fitzwilliam Square and buried at St Peter’s Cemetery.
2 Mary Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1811 married John George of Cahore a Barrister and
Judge of the Kings Bench on 10.08.1848 at St Peter’s Church. John died on 15.12.1871 and is
buried at Glascarrig. Mary died on 04.04.1897 aged 86 years at 3 Belgrave Square West,
Monkstown.
3 George Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1812 late of 3 Belgrave Square, Monkstown and the
Carlton Club, Pall Mall died 19.09.1881 aged 71 years at Southampton.
4 Christopher Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1814 of Kevinsfort married Charlotte Cooper
daughter of Arthur Brooke Cooper of Cooper’s Hill, Sligo on 19.02.1852. Charlotte died on
22.10.1887 aged 62 years and Christopher died on 11.02.1889 both at Kevinsfort, Sligo.

on 08.08.1931 aged 78 years and is buried at St Anne’s, Strandhill.
2 Christopher Arthur Carleton L’Estrange eldest son born circa 1857 married Kathleen
Annie Victoria Robinson youngest daughter of late Roger Dodwell Robinson JP of
Sligo on 21.09.1887 at St John’s, Sligo. Christopher of Woodville died 21.05.1900 aged
43 years at Hazelwood the home of Owen Wynne.
3 Elizabeth Mary Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1857 died 14.01.1920 aged 63 years
at Kevinsfort.
4 Alice Margaret Carleton L’Estrange born 06.01.1863 married Gerard Macklin Lloyd
Eccles of Moneygold on 30.08.1900 at St John’s Parish Church, Sligo. Gerard died
on 29.06.1940 and Alice died on 25.09.1946 aged 83 years at Moneygold.
5 Arthur Henry Carleton L’Estrange 2nd son born circa 08.07.1866 at Kevinsfort. Arthur
married Mabel Neville youngest daughter of late Montague Newton of Earl’s Court,
London and widow of Ronald John Neville of New South Wales on 11.01.1900 at St
George’s, Hanover Square. Arthur died on 16.12.1920 aged 54 at Adnagary.
6 Charles William Carleton L’Estrange 3rd son born circa 1862 died 26.09.1865 aged
3 years at Kevinsfort.
7 Henry George Carleton L’Estrange 4th son born 06.04.1869 married Evelyn Wynne
daughter of Owen Wynne on 24.07.1901 at the Parish Church in Calry. Henry died
on 11.02.1929 aged 59 years at Lisnalurg, Sligo.
8 Captain Edmund Carleton L’Estrange 5th son born circa 14.08.1867 of the South
Lancashire Regiment and died 25.12.1909 in Queensland.
9 Charlotte Louisa Carleton L’Estrange 3rd daughter married Major James Campbell
eldest son of Harper Campbell JP of the Hermitage on 23.04.1884 at St John’s Parish
Church, Sligo.
5 Janette Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1815 married William Orme of Millbrook, Moygownagh
Parish, Mayo on 20.09.1837 at St Peter’s Church. Janette died on 29.08.1850 aged 35 years
of Scarlatina at Owenmore.
William married secondly Margaret Barbara Hall eldest daughter of the Rev Savage Hall,
Rector of Loughgall, County Armagh on 16.02.1858 at Warrenpoint. William died 20.09.1876
aged 66 years dsp and was succeeded by his brother. Margaret died on 16.12.1910 aged 78
years at Rostrevor.

Monkstown and is buried at Mount Jerome.
7 Elizabeth Henrietta Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1816 died 07.10.1835 aged 19 years

8 Louisa Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1821 married William Digges La Touche on 13.09.1842
at St Peters. William died on 22.09.1882 aged 70 years and Louisa died 24.02.1902 aged
81 years.
9 William Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1822 died 12.07.1888 aged 66 years and is buried at
Mount Jerome.
10 Sidney Frances Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1826 married Robert Orme of Mountanville
2nd son of William Orme on 16.05.1843 at St Peter’s Church. Robert died on 29.05.1877
aged 62 years at the Priory, Monkstown and Sidney died on 10.03.1899 aged 73 years at
Coolderry the home of her daughter Janet Brownlow.
11 Rev Guy James Carleton L’Estrange born circa 1827 of Warrenpoint married Harriet
Campbell Baird on 07.06.1860 at Rostrevor, Down. Guy died on 01.11.1894 and Harriet
died on 29.05.1899 both at 1 Clifton Terrace, Monkstown.
12 Sarah Georgiana Carleton L’Estrange youngest daughter born 08.08.1829 died on
18.04.1838 aged 9 years and buried at St Peter’s Cemetery.
