William James Eames born circa 1804. He was resident at Londonderry, married Elizabeth
Anne Comyns at St Ann’s Church, Belfast on 4 Sep 1831. Elizabeth Anne was the eldest
daughter of Joseph Comyns, a landing waiter at Belfast Port (later Comptroller of Customs).
They were living at Dawson Court in 1856 when their eldest daughter married and later
that year, their eldest son was married. William and James Alexander Eames were
Apothecaries of 32 Westmoreland Street, Dublin and 3 Ferry Quay, Londonderry were
bankrupt in 1858. Elizabeth Anne died 16 Jul 1868 at Asylum Road, Londonderry and she
was buried at Londonderry cemetery. William died 9 May 1872 at Londonderry.
1 James Alexander Eames eldest son born circa 1833 studied at the Royal College of
Surgeons, Dublin, and graduated St Andrew’s University LRCSI in 1854. He was an
army surgeon and was posted to Turkey in 1854 during the Crimean War for which
he received the medal and clasp and the Turkish medal. He served with Florence
Nightingale at Scutari. He married Helen Hutton at Monkstown Church on
24 Oct 1856. Helen was the fifth daughter of John Hutton of Richmond Hill,
Monkstown. In 1864 James was appointed resident physician of Letterkenny
Asylum and was appointed Superintendent in 1873. He was a renowned Alienist
(psychiatrist) and was president of MPA in 1885 and a lecturer on psychological
medicine in Queen’s College, Cork. In 1884 he was appointed to a panel by the
Select Committee tasked 'to inquire into the conduct of the Government with
regard to the criminal charges against James Ellis French, County Inspector Royal
Irish Constabulary, Gustavus Cornwall, Secretary to the General Post Office, and
George Bolton, Crown Solicitor' (the Dublin Castle Scandals). James contracted
cervical anthrax on a trip to Gheel, Belgium where is attended a medical conference.
He died 17 Jul 1886 at Letterkenny Asylum and left 2.5K in personal estate. He was
buried at the New Cemetery, Londonderry. Helen died at Dorset Square,
Marylebone, London on 26 Apr 1903.
1 Florence Nightingale Eames eldest daughter born circa 1860 married Charles
Hargreaves, a master cotton bleacher on 15 Apr 1880 at St Mary's Shandon,
Cork. Charles was the son Charles D Hargreaves.

3 Ernest Victor Eames third child born 4 Aug 1867 at Letterkenny Asylum.
He was a surgeon and physician and married Margaret Elizabeth
Pendlebury on 3 Sep 1895 at St Wilfrid's, Standish, Lancs. Margaret was the
daughter of John Pendlebury, merchant draper. Earnest had a practice at
Heanor and died in March 1936.

5 Katherine Grace Helen Eames youngest daughter married Charles Louis Fulda
of Fullbank, Bradford on 29 Sep 1887 at St Finbarr's Cathedral, Cork.

Dungannon, had been chief surgeon of the 3rd Division of the Army works Corps
and had served in the Crimea. He was the son Walter Bernard.
3 Mary Frances Eames second daughter married Alexander Richardson Binnie on
1 Jun 1865 at the Cathedral, Londonderry. Alexander was a civil engineer and the
eldest son of Alex Binnie of Notting hill, London. They lived at 7 Argyle Terrace,
Foxly Road, Kensington. Lady Binnie died in September 1901 at 77 Ladbrook
Grove, Nottinghill.

of the Institution Civil Engineers, of 30 Buckingham Gate, in the city of
Westminster in 1923. William James Eames Binnie of 12 Stafford Terrace.
was a partner in the engineering firm of Binnie Deacon & Gurleye. He
married Ethel Morse on 13 Jun 1897 at Nottinghill. Ethel was the daughter
of Remy Morse of Suffolk. They had three sons. William died at his home at
Tilehurst, near Reading, on 4 Oct 1949.
4 Emily Kate Ponsonby Eames, third daughter born circa 1843 married James Ferrier
Clarke on 7 Apr 1863 in Londonderry. James was a MD of Farnworth, Lancashire.
1 Anna Bella Ferrier Clarke was left money by her aunt Ellen Marion Findlater.
5 William James Eames born circa 1835. He graduated Royal College of Surgeon and
joined the Royal Navy. He married Harriet Dobree Bernard on 1 Jul 1863 at
Ascension. Harriet from Plymouth was the third daughter of Admiral Bernard of
Stone House, Devon. William was a surgeon on HMS Gorgon and was promoted to
the rank of fleet surgeon in Her Majesty’s Fleet, with seniority in 1863. He was
surgeon of the HMS Gladiator in 1864. He became deputy Inspector General of
hospitals and fleets in 1886. He was placed on the retired list, at his own request,
with permission to assume the rank of Inspector General in 1891. Harriet died
23 Aug 1897 in London and William died in Nice in 1908.

married Constance Wright in 1901.

6 Chetham Eames third son born circa 1836 was a member of the Royal College of
Surgeons. He died 20 Dec 1858 at Londonderry.
7 Robert Eames, fourth son born circa 1838 was admitted an Attorney of her Majesty’s
Courts of Common Law in 1859. He married Mary Carr on 12 Mar 1863 at St
Stephen’s Church, Paddington. Mary was the second daughter of the late David Carr,
of Hawke House, Sunbury, Middlesex. They lived at Lakelands from 1866 to 1872.
Robert was called to the bar in 1873. Mary died 1877 aged 35 years.

Herbert Hanley son of Henry Honeyman Handley on 13.04.1887 at St Andrew’s
Church, Betul, Bengal.

married RD Cheales of the East Lancashire Regiment youngest son of Rev Alan
Cheales Hagworthingham, Lincolnshire on 01.06.1893 at the Parish Church,
Stoke-next-Guildford. The Bride was given away by her uncle T M Brownrigg.

14 Sep 1872 at the parish church of Farnworth with Kearsley. John was the son of
W Hargreaves JP of Darley Hall, near Bolton.
10 Catherine Sarah (Kate) Eames born 22 Apr 1846 married Theodore Drysdale on
27 Jan 1870 at Nagpore, India. Theodore was Assistant Commissioner, Central
Provinces.
11 Ellen Marion Eames born 6 Jun 1848 at Derry. She was resident at Moville and married
Joseph Findlater at St Columb’s Church, Moville, Co Donegal on 29 Sep 1867. Joseph
of London was the youngest son of Captain John Findlater, mariner of Liverpool. Ellen
of Rosapenna, Paignton died 21 Apr 1925 and left 9K in personal estate. Probate was
granted to her nephew William James Eames Binnie of 12 Stafford Terrace. William
was a partner in the engineering firm of Binnie Deacon & Gurley.
12 Frances Octavia Isabella Eames, youngest daughter born 28 Oct 1849 (13th child)
married William Binnie at St John’s Church, Nottinghill on 20 Oct 1874. William Binnies
was of 53 Lansdowne Road, Nottinghill and the son of Sir Alexander Richardson Binnie.
He was assistant engineer in the extension of a railway line eastward from Chesterfield
in 1892 and on Birmingham's Elan Valley water scheme in 1893, and he served as
resident engineer on the Shepherd's Bush section of the underground Central London
Railway in 1896 and on the construction of the Khedivial graving dock, Alexandria in 1900.
Frances died 22 Oct 1920 at Colchester.
