John Doyle of Kilmacud, son of Sylvester Doyle married Kate Byrne of Kilmacud daughter of Patrick
Byrne in 1881. Witnesses: John Stapleton and Julia Cantwell. Kate was a married char woman in 1901
but her husband was not recorded as living in the house on the night of the census. By 1911 Kate
was a widow.

1 Thomas Doyle born 17.02.1884 at Rosemount, Dundrum. Thomas a Tram Conductor
married Margaret Byrne of Stillorgan Grove daughter of John Byrne a Gardener on
27.02.1905 at Booterstown Chapel. Thomas enlisted in December 1915 at Kingstown
His home address given as 1 Gaskins Cottages, Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan. Thomas was
with the Connaught Rangers, service no 7038 and transferred to Royal Irish Fusiliers, service
number 43065. He was Killed in Action 06.09.1916 aged 31 in France and was buried at
Serre Road Cemetery, South of Arras, France. Margaret moved to England and remarried.
Known as Margaret Ingram she was granted Thomas's pension, and in 1921 Thomas's
medals were issued to her at 22 Bennett's Yard, West Town, Dewsbury.

2 Sylvester Doyle born 24.08.1886 at Stillorgan was deaf and dumb and attended St Joseph's
school in Cabra. In 1904 Sylvester was made a ward of the Rathdown Guardians so he could
access a grant to take up an apprenticeship as a Bootmaker.
3 Patrick Doyle born 14.08.1888 at Kilmacud.
4 Margaret (Maggie) Doyle born 10.02.1891 at Kilmacud. Margaret of 12 Kilmacud Park
married Laurence Dawson a Gardener of Foxrock son of Patrick Dawson on 22.02.1914 at
Kilmacud Chapel. Witnesses: James Dawson and Ellen Doyle.
5 Ellen (Nellie) Doyle born 21.07.1893 at Kilmacud was a daily domestic in 1911.
6 John Leo Doyle at 28.05.1898 at Kilmacud. John of 13 Kilmacud Road a Motor Driver married
Mary Campbell of Brookfield Place, Blackrock son of Joseph Campbell on 15.09.1924 at the
Roman Catholic Church in Blackrock. Witnesses: Michael O’Brien and Henryetta Murrelle.
