Patrick Dowdall born circa 1855 in County Dublin son of Patrick Dowdall, a labourer. He married
Catherine (Kate) Byrne, daughter of Thomas Byrne, a gardener at Monkstown RC Church on
18 Aug 1889. Witnesses: Joseph and Mary McGarry. Catherine was a servant working at Belgrave Hall,
Queen’s Park, Monkstown. Patrick died 28 Jul 1913 at Kilmacud Road and Catherine died 4 Sep 1928 at
4 Kilmacud Road and both were buried at Deansgrange.
1 William Dowdall born 17 Jun 1890 at Murray’s Lane, Williamstown. William a gardener married
Mary Tobin at Holycross Church, Dundrum on 23 Jan 1916. Mary was a laundress living at
Windy Arbour and the daughter of Christopher Tobin, a labourer.

2 Patrick Dowdall born 10 Dec 1892 at Pott’s Lane, Williamstown. Patrick was a labourer and
married Julia Mooney at Holy Cross Church on 7 Feb 1926. Julia was a laundress living at
Rosemount and the daughter of Thomas Mooney, a pensioner.
3 David Dowdall born 5 Nov 1893 at Pott’s Lane Williamstown. David was a labourer and married*
Mary Turner at Kilmacud Church on 2 Sep 1918. Mary was a laundry maid living at Kilmacud and
the daughter of Joseph Turner, a labourer. Mary died at The Hill Stillorgan aged 26 on
12 Nov 1920 and was buried at Deansgrange.

David secondly married Jane Mulligan at Cabinteely RC Church on 24 Apr 1928. Jane was living at
Rathmichael and was the daughter of Denis Mulligan, a farmer. David died 4 Jul 1968 at St
Michael’s Hospital, late of 12 Ard Lorcain, Stillorgan.
4 Thomas Dowdall born 12 Jul 1896 at 2 Gardener’s Row, Williamstown. Thomas joined the Irish
Republican and was stationed at Harbour Barracks when he married Josephine Wildes at Glasthule
RC Church on 7 Nov 1922. Josephine was a minor living at 1 Adelaide Cottages and daughter of
James Wildes, a postman.
*It is thought that this is an error in the register and that David is son of Patrick and not son of David as per
the marriage register.

Patrick Dowdall born circa 1855 in County Dublin son of Patrick Dowdall, a labourer. He married
