John Lloyd Edwards of Great Georges Street North and of Camolin Park, Wexford married
Wilhelmina Deane of the parish of St Mark by marriage licence on 11 Jul 1807. Wilhelmina was the
daughter of Colonel Joseph Deane, MP of Terenure. They had Roebuck Hill from circa 1821 and
from here they attended Vice Regal balls and levees. An armed party attacked Camolin Park in 1833.
after firing shots in front of the house, they broke in a window in the rear of the house, but on
finding iron bars inside, they dispersed. They returned some hours later but still didn’t manage to
gain entrance.
John, a magistrate died at Camolin Park on 21 Jun 1842. Wilhelmina was living at 72 Lower Mount
Street in 1868 and died at Kilmoney Abbey, Carrigaline on 4 Nov 1871 late of 72 Mount Street and
left 100 pounds in personal estate. Camolin Park, whose one-time owner was Arthur Annesley, 5th
Earl of Anglesey, was purchased by the Land Commission in 1905 and the Department of Agriculture
purchased 400 acres of woods in Camolin Park. The house was left to decay and was demolished in
1974.
1 Wilhelmina Edwards eldest daughter married George Glascott second son of John Glascott
of Round Lodge at Camolin Church on 31 Oct in 1835 and they lived at Camolin Park.
1 Wilhelmina Eliza Glascott born circa 1836 died at Kilmoney Abbey 14 Jan 1874.
2 Joyce Frances Edwards born circa 1812 was living at Kilmoney Abbey, Carrigaline, Co Cork.
She lived at Glendarragh, Newtownmountkennedy with Cecelia Berkeley Deane and died a
spinster at Barrowmount, Kilkenny on 5 Jan 1893.
3 Mary Anne Edwards third daughter born circa 1816 married Samuel Thomas Harman of
Palace, New Ross, Co Wexford only son of the Rev Thomas Harman and his wife Sarah on
17 Oct 1839 at Camolin Church. Samuel was appointed a magistrate in 1840. Samuel of
Ballycarron House, Kilkenny and Palace, New Ross died 3 Jan 1882 aged 62. Mary Anne
died at Palace on 6 Jun 1885. Both were buried at Old Ross graveyard.
1 Wilhelmina Sara Harman born April 1841 died 20 Sep 1906 and was buried with her
parents.
2 Thomas Edward Harman only son born April 1842 lived at Ballycarron House.
4 Henry Deane Edwards born in Wexford circa 1817. He graduated Trinity in 1839. He was a
captain in the Cavan Militia in 1849. His lands in Cavan and Dublin which was heavily mortgaged
were sold through the Landed Estates Court in 1860 with a life interest to his mother noted. He
died 3 Feb 1869 in London late of Lower Mount Street Dublin. He left personal estate of £5. He
was buried in a common grave at Brompton cemetery late of 244 Vauxhall Bridge Road.
