1 Jean Marie David born circa 1884 in France, son of Joseph David, a clerk and civil
servant. He married Alice Elizabeth Barnett 28 Sep 1910 at St Peter’s Church,
Dublin and again on 1 Feb 1911 in All Saint’s, Clooney, Co Derry. Alice was the
daughter of James Barnett, a chancery messenger. They were living in
Londonderry in April 1911. Alice died at the Coombe Hospital on 1 Jun 1911.

Jean secondly married Catherine Dardis on 1 Nov 1914 at North William Street
Church. Witness’: Leon David and Margaret Flanagan. Jean was a chef and both
gave their address’ as Mona, Clonliff Road. Catherine was the daughter of Thomas
Kelly, a master tailor and the widow of James Dardis.
2 Leon David born 1888 in Brittany, France son of Joseph David, a clerk. He served
in the Royal Navy. He married Norah Kearney on 27 Nov 1912 at SS Michael & John,
Dublin. David was a chef in the Officer’s Mess at Edinburgh Barracks in Derry.
Norah was living at 68 South Great Georges Street and was the daughter of Michael
Kearney, a policeman. Witness’; Jean David and Bridget Foley. Leon was living at
Rathdrum and enlisted at Weybridge in 1916 and served in the Tank Corps during
WW1. He was in demobbed in 1919. Norah died 15 Feb 1917 at the Brewery,
Rathdrum.

Circular Road, Kilmainham.
Leon secondly married Annie Dempsey in 1919 at Farnham, Surrey. They lived
at Melfield, Newtownpark Avenue from 1921 to 1926. He was a registered
milk supplier at Blackrock and Dunshaughlin, but fell foul of the law when he
was found selling milk at Kingstown in 1923, as he was not registered for that
district. Leon was a well known chef in Dublin. He worked at the The Dolphin,
Royal Hibernian Hotel, Wicklow Hotel, the Metropole restaurant and also at The
International Hotel in Bray. He retired from The Dolphin run by the Nugent
family of Oakley Park, Blackrock in 1957. Annie ran the Bella Vista Guesthouse
on the Seafront in Bray, in the 1930’s & 1940’s. Annie died 24 Apr 1862 aged 75
at St Michael’s Hospital, late of 10 New Grange Park, Bray. Leon died on
7 Mar 1963 at Wentworth, Novara Road, Bray. Selina David, the informant. Leon
was buried at St Peter's Churchyard in Bray survived by two daughters and a son.
