Craig family of Rockmount House, Dundrum


Richard Craig born circa 1808 Deputy Accountant General of Bank of Ireland married Maria Rebecca
born circa 1814.  Maria Rebecca died 11.05.1868 aged 54 years at 5 Clanbrassil Place and Richard
died 11.04.1873 aged 65 years at Mount Pleasant Square, Ranelagh.  They are buried at Mount
Jerome together with 5 infant sons.


Thomas Manifold Craig an Accountant General with Bank of Ireland son of Richard Craig married
Annie Gorton daughter of Thomas Gorton of Burton-on-Trent in 1860.  Thomas was Rector's
Churchwarden in Taney Parish in 1885.

1                Maria (Myra) Eleanor Craig born 13.01.1861 at Ashbrook Cottage, South Circular Road, Dublin
                  married Joseph St Clair Mayne a Barrister of Cullenswood Lodge, Ranelagh son of James Arthur
                  Mayne on 31.12.1913 at St John’s Church, Woolwich.

2                Arthur Richard Thomas Craig born 13.07.1864 at 8 London Bridge Road.

3                Nora Mary Craig younger daughter born 03.03.1866 at 1 Cullenswood Terrace, Ranelagh married
                  Dr Thomas Du Bédat Whaite MB TCD Surgeon Medical Staff eldest son of late Major J E Whaite of
                  Croydon on 03.06.1891 at Taney Church, Dundrum.  Nora died 16.07.1937 aged 71 years of
                  Rockmead, Halland.

                 1       Harold Edmund Maniford Whaite born 16.03.1892 and died 15.09.1892 aged 6 months in
                          Bengal.

                 2      Marjorie Cecile Whaite born 19.07.1897 in Bengal married Captain Frederick E Morgan RA
                          son of F Beverley Morgan JP of Mascalls Manor, Paddock Wood on 15.08.1917 at St Paul’s
                          Church, Rusthall.  The bride was given away by her mother as Colonel Whaite’s leave was
                          cancelled at the last moment.

4               Ernest Manifold Craig younger son born 12.12.1870 at Rosemount, baptised at Taney Church a
                 Clerk in Guinness Brewery married Evelyn Maud Brown youngest daughter of late David Brown
                 of Harrow-on-the-Hill on 31.05.1906 at St Mary’s Church, Harrow-on-the-Hill.  The family were
                  living in at 19 Galloping Green in 1911.  Ernest died late of Myrtle Lodge, Foxrock on 13.09.1911
                  aged 39 years at Carna, Galway.

                 1          Thomas David Craig born 16.07.1907 at Myrtle Lodge, Foxrock.

                 2           Evelyn Anne Craig born 30.01.1909 at Myrtle Lodge, Foxrock.
