John Crabbe married Jane Lindsay. John died on 11.02.1879 (40) at Clare Ville, Upper Rathmines and
Jane died on 02.11.1895 aged 83 years at 20 Trafalgar Terrace.
1 James Crabbe born 1842 in Scotland. He was resident at 17 Belgrave Square, Dublin when he
married Susanna Elizabeth Hector aged 33 years, daughter of Robert Hector, a Land Valuator and
his wife Forbes Anderson on 30.10.1879 at Bervie, Scotland. James was associated with Wallis and
Son, Railway and steam packet agents of Bachelor's Walk. Susanna died at 20 Trafalgar Terrace on
11.04.1883 and was buried at Mount Jerome. James secondly married Alice Margaret Alexander
aged 36 years, daughter of William Alexander and Isabella Melanie Thompson on the 29.04.1893 at
Kirkintillock, Scotland. The family lived at St Cloud on Avoca Avenue from 1900 to 1910. James died
16.10.1910 aged 68 at St Cloud and was buried at Deansgrange. He left 16K in personal estate.
Alice moved to 6 Proby Square and died 18.02.1943 at Tivoli Nursing Home late of Proby Square
and was buried at Deansgrange.
1 Alice Edith Helena Crabbe born 06.02.1896 at 20 Trafalgar Terrace, Monkstown. Alice
died on 24.08.1908 aged 12 years at St Cloud and is buried at Deansgrange.
2 James Lindsay Crabbe born on 19.03.1897 at 20 Trafalgar Terrace. James of 6 Proby
Square Blackrock and the Dunlop Company married Hilary Martin Cook daughter of Alfred
Cook a Merchant of KnocknaGarry, Sligo on 14.09.1927 at St John’s Church, Sligo. The
lived at Packenham Villas before moving to Lissadell on Leopardstown Road in 1931. He
was a Director of Irish Bicycle Industries in 1951 and was appointed a Director of the Royal
Bank of Ireland in 1952.
James was a international golfer affectionately known as 'Bonzo' and a member of Foxrock
Golf Club. He won the West of Ireland and the South of Ireland Championship in 1924 and
1926 and was on the international team from 1925 to 1927. Reports suggest that the
trophy was damaged whilst in the possession of the Foxrock Club because of excessive
celebrations. This was unproven and costs were shared with the Rosses Point Club. He
became Captain in 1926, Club President 1942-1943 and Honorary Member in 1963. James
died 26.11.1970 and was buried at St Brigid's, Stillorgan. When Hilary died she was buried
with her husband. She left 232K in personal estate.
