David Coyle bornn 9 Sep 1896 at Limerick only son of Hugh Coyle a tea merchant of
“Norham”, Orwell Park, Rathgar and Mary Begley. David was a tea merchant of Upper
Abbey Street, a director of the Munster and Leinster Bank, Arklow Pottery, White Swan
Laundry, Dublin Port and Docks Board and chairman of Tea Importers Ltd. He was also
on the board of directors of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children and a member of
Milltown Golf Club and a worker with the St Vincent de Paul Society. David married
Madeline Marie Cantwell on Primrose Day the 19 Apr 1922 at St Columba's Catholic
Church in Ballybrack. Madeline was elder daughter of James Ignatius Cantwell of
Temple Hill, Killiney, a wine merchant. The reception was held at Temple Hill. The
newly-weds left for London, Italy and Germany for 6 weeks. They had four children.
Madeline died of TB in 1929 aged 28 years at 30 Herbert Park, Dublin.
1 Owen Hugh Coyle eldest son born 14.03.1923 at 30 Herbert Park married Nuala
Marie Christina Moylett only daughter of Michael Moylett of King Street and the
Downhill Hotel, Ballina in 1947, living at 57 Eglinton Road, Donnybrook.
David a widower married Eileen Buckley of 36 York Road, Rathgar on the 24.06.1936 at the
Church of the Three Patrons, Rathgar. Eileen was the daughter of John J Buckley, a former
director of the National Museum. Eileen was a well known pianist and official accompanist to
the Feis Ceoil. They lived at Ardmore from 1946. Eileen died at a private clinic on 10 Dec 1950
aged 53, late of Avonmore. Her funeral mass was held at Foxrock church and was attended
by the Taoiseach, Liam Cosgrave and Sean Lemass. She was buried at Deansgrange.
David a widower thirdly married Nancy McDermott.
