Thomas Kenny, born circa 1734, son of Courtney Kenny married Eliza Crowe daughter of the
Rev William Crowe, DD, Dean of Clonfert and his wife Emilia Evans (sister of Lord Carbury) in
1757.
1 William Kenny of the Madras Native Infantry married Martha relict of George Cummings.
William died in 1803 and in 1814 Martha took an action against the executors of his Will.
2 Thomas Kenny married Miss Pick, daughter of Versian Pick, Rector of Johnstown.
3 David Crowe Courtney Kenny born circa 1782 was the son of Thomas Kenny, the grandson
of Capt Courtney Kenny of Col Cuff’s Militia Dragoons and Anne Rogers, and the great
grandson of Thomas Kenny of Ballinrobe and Frances Courtney.
David enlisted in the 1/14 Foot in 1808. He was with the Honourable East India Company and
married Maria Oceana Light daughter of William Stratton Dundas Light at Madras on
4 Aug 1821.
1 Mary Anna Charlotte Kenny born 26 Sep 1823 at Madras.
David secondly married Leah Saville Jones at Camberwell London on 2 Nov 1837. David
was promoted to Major General in 1837 and Lieut Gen in 1846. Lieut General David
Courtney Kenny, of the East India Company’s Madras Establishment died at Dunstaffnage on
20 Aug 1847 aged 65.
In his Will, he left his sword to his son and all his worldly goods to his wife for her lifetime
and thereafter to be shared equally between his son and his daughter.
2 William Lightfoot Kenny born circa 1840 attended Belmont House boarding school,
Stillorgan in 1847/1848.
4 Courtney Crowe Kenny married Miss Geils, daughter of General Geils. Courtney died at the
Battle of Burgos in 1812.
