Domenico Corri born 4 Oct 1746 a native of Rome was a pupil of Antonio Porpora. He married
Sophia Bachelli, a singer and a painter of miniatures. He moved to Edinburgh circa 1771 and
worked as a composer, music publisher and musician. In 1788 the family moved to London and
left Domenico's brother Natale to run the business in Edinburgh. In time Natale established
himself as a one of the leading concert organisers and in 1793 opened Corri’s Rooms, a concert
venue situated at the top of Broughton Street, Edinburgh.
Domenico was the manager of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in London. The couple had a least
five children. In 1812, Domenico organised a concert in the Argyll Rooms in Regent Street, London.
This was the favourite concert hall in London at this time. Sophia died in December 1802 and
Domenico died 22 May 1825 in London, aged 78.
1 Justina Corri eldest child died in 1776 aged 2.
2 Sophia Justina Corri born circa 1775 married the Czech composer, John Ladislaus Louis
Wanceslaus Dussek (better know as Jan Dussek) on 31 Aug 1792 (ML 7 Jul 1792) in London.
She was a harpist and composer. The opus 2 sonatas published in at least 3 editions in
the 1790s by the Corri-Dussek company in London are by Madame Dussek. Jan went into
partnership with Natale Corri )Sophia's uncle and ended up bankrupt. He fled the family
home and died at Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France on 20 Mar 1812.

Sophia secondly married the violist John Alvis Moralt on 30 Jul 1812. The couple lived in
Paddington, where she founded a music school called Madame Dussek Moralt's Musical
Academy. Sophia died circa 1828.
3 Montague Philip Corri born circa 1779 living at Westminster Bridge in 1817. He was a
composer and wrote music for the poet Fanny E Lacy.
4 Philip Antony Corri born circa 1782 published many songs and pianoforte pieces, and in 1813 was
involved in the foundation of the London Philharmonic Society. He went to New York
circa 1815 and it is believed that he married a Quaker lady and settled in Baltimore.
5 Joseph Lewis Haydn Corri, youngest son born circa 1790 in London. He was better known
as Hayden Corri, named for his godfather the famous Franz Joseph Haydn, Austrian
Composer. He was a singer and composer and married singer Anna Adami in 1814 at
St James, Westminster. His wife was the celebrated vocalist of the London Philharmonic
concerts. They were engaged to appear at the Queen’s Theatre, Dublin on the occasion
of the King George IV’s visit to Ireland in 1821. They were so successful that they moved to
Dublin. Haydn composed the music for his wife and accompanied her on the grand
pianoforte. The played at all the theatres in Dublin and toured the county as well as
appearing in London theatres. He was a music teacher at 10 Sackville Place in 1829. He
ran a musical academy at No 7 Saville Place, North Strand and commenced tuitions in the
environs of Kingstown in 1831. In 1836 he was piano teacher at Seafort School in
Williamstown run by D W Cahill. His academy was at Hamilton Row, Merrion Square by
1836, but he was bankrupt in 1841. Hadyn was the director of the choir and organist at
the Metropolitan Church (Pro Cathedral) for 35 years. They were living at Adami Cottage,
Sandymount in 1845. Henry died on 18 Feb 1860 at 13 Queen’s Terrace, the home of his
son. Anna died at 5 Camden Terrace, Leeds on 10 Apr 1867 aged 72.
1 Hadyn Corri born circa 1819 was a talented baritone singer and appeared in concerts
with his parents. He died at Saville place in May 1832.
2 Louisa Corri eldest daughter born circa 1820 married Hubert William Du Lang on
20 Jun 1839 at Kingstown. Louisa was a vocalist and continued to perform after her
marriage as Madam du Lang.
3 Henry Corri born circa 1822 in Dublin was an opera singer and manager of an
English travelling company. He married Julia Adami in 1853 and secondly married
Ida Ghita Gilliess in 1869. He died in London in on 27 Feb 1888 leaving issue. Ghita
died in 1908 at Hampstead.
1 Ghita Corri born 27 Jun 1879 in Surrey was a successful dramatic soprano.
4 Patricius Constantine Corri baptised at the Pro Cathedral on 22 Feb 1823. He married
Mary Jane Woulds in April 1844 at Harborne near Birmingham. Patricus was a music
professor and Mary Jane also a music teacher was the second daughter of Mr Woulds
late lessee of the Bath, Swansea and Cardiff Theatres. In 1857 he became the Musical
director at Weston’s Music Hall in Holborne. Patricus died in Bradford in 1876.
1 Eleanor Constance Corri born 14 Oct 1846 at Queens’s Square baptised at St
Marks.
5 Rupert Corri born circa 1825 was a scene painter and comedian. He married Agnes
Louise Mason and was living in England in 1861 and 1871.
6 Eugene Dussek Corri born circa 1826 was an opera singer and professor of music. He
was living at Queen's Square in 1858 and died in England in 1870.
7 Valentine Domenico Corri born 23 Feb 1830 at 188 Great Britain Street trained at the
Dublin Society’s Drawing School and exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1849.
He supported his painting by teaching and lived at Queen’s Square, off Brunswick Street
(now known as Pearse Park and a Bohemia for performers). He was living at 8
Tritonville Avenue when he married Annie Clementina Wilson at Donnybrook on
10 Mar 1860. Annie (with the stage name Annie Parker) of 25 Queen’s Square was the
daughter of William Thomas Wilson. She was an actress in the stock company of the
Queen’s Theatre, Dublin. Annie died on 4 Aug 1870.
1 Stephen Patrick Corri born 6 Oct 1868 at Queens Square. Stephen married
Mary Lyons in 1889. They had at least 6 sons and were living at Queen’s
square in 1901. Stephen died 18 Dec 1940 and was buried at Deansgrange.
Two of their children; William and Hayden took part in the War of Independence.
2 Henry George infant son died at Queens Square on 11 Sep 1870.
Valentine secondly married Anne Redmond at the Dublin Registrar’s office in 1885.
Valentine died on 1 Aug 1889 at Queen’s Square and was buried at Glasnevin.
8 Emma Jane Corri born 14 Sep 1832 at 79 Upper Abbey Street (Saville Place) baptised
27 Dec 1832 at St Mary’s, Pro Cathedral. Emma of 54 Queen’s Square married
Frederick Young on 19 Dec 1852 at St Marks Church of Ireland. Frederick was a
comedian with the Craven Robertson Cast.
9 Rosetta Sarah (Rosa) Corri youngest daughter born 28 May 1836. She was an
actress, singer, dance instructor and dancer. She appeared at the Liverpool
Amphitheatre in 1852. She was living at 54 Queen’s Square and married George
Marshall Trulock on 1 May 1856 at St Mark’s Church of Ireland. George was the
son of William Trulock and died in 1865 aged 33. No issue found.
Rosa secondly married Henry Hennessy on 24 Apr 1873 at RC Church of
Sandymount. Henry was a professor of mathematics and a member of the
Royal Academy of London and a member of the Royal Irish Academy. He died in
Bray on 8 Mar 1901. Rosa was resident at 3 Leinster Terrace at the time of the
probate of his will.
1 Joseph Hennessy born circa 1874 in Co Dublin. Joseph was an optician of
16 Charlemont Street. He married Catherine (Katie) Cruise on 6 Sep 1899
at Donnybrook RC Church. Catherine was the daughter of William Cruise a
publican and his wife Eliza Darcy. They were living with Elizabeth Cruise
(Katie’s mother in 1901) and Joseph was working as an electrician. They were
living at Roebuck in 1911 with two of their five children and Joseph was
working as an optician.
2 Mary Rosa Hennessy born circa 1874 married Eustace Stanley Dashwood
on 20 Aug 1895 in the Consulate, Lousanne, Switzerland. Eustace was the
son of Farret Bawn Dashwood. They had two children of whom one
survived in 1911. Captain Dashwood was an electrical engineer and the
managing director of William Coates & Son, Belfast. Eustace died
19 Feb 1943 at Ballkeelbeg, Portrush and was buried at Ballywilliam New
Cemetery. He left 17K in personal estate. Mary Rosa died 28 May 1949 at
Botanic Avenue, Belfast.
1 Kathleen Mabel Dashwood born 25 Sep 1906 at 36 Mount Charles,
Belfast.
10 Josephine Corri born 1839 was buried at St Marks on 4 Nov 1839 aged 9 months.
