William Caulfield born circa 1779. He married Esther Mary Kearney on 05.04.1818 at
Rockview, Wexford. Esther was the only daughter of late William Kearney of Wexford. They
lived at Levitstown House, Kildare and William was a JP. William died 21.05.1855 at Levitstown
House and probate was to his daughter Hester. Esther died 26.11.1867 at Levitsown House,
Co Kildare.
1 William Caulfield eldest son baptised on 02.09.1824 at Castledermot. William married
Mary Anne Devereux eldest daughter of late N Devereux of Wexford in 15.01.1850 at
Summer Hill, Wexford. William formerly of Levitstown and late of Melbourne died
07.07.1900 in Melbourne. Probate to widow Mary Anne.
2 John Caulfield second son baptised on 17.11.1827 at Castledermot. John signed up
to the RIC in Kildare on 27.09.1847 aged 19 years. John Caulfield a sub-inspector in
Dunshaughlin married Charlotte Mary Lucas, third and youngest daughter of David
Lucas of Cowslip Lane, Bettystown, Meath on 20.10.1852 at Colpe Church, Meath.
John was promoted from second sub inspector stationed at Kells to first sub inspector
on 22.05.1861. He served in Louth, Leitrim, Meath, Limerick, Cork, Meath, Waterford,
Galway, Kings, Derry and finally Dundrum in Dublin where they lived at Lakelands,
Dundrum from 1888 to 1889. He retired on pension on 27.09.1888 and died on
04.01.1900 aged 71 years at Plasnewydd, Killiney the residence of his son-in-law
Solomon Darcus, late of Cartref, Greystones and is buried at Deansgrange. Probate to
his widow Charlotte.
1 Son Caulfield born prematurely on 15.12.1853 died after a few hours at Bruff,
Limerick.
2 Son Caulfield born 18.06.1855 and died after a few hours at Bruff, Limerick.
3 Mary Helen Caulfield elder daughter born 29.06.1862 at Levitstown married
Solomon Henry Darcus of Londonderry son of Lieut Col Solomon Darcus of the
Donegal Militia on 05.08.1885 at Glenarm Church, Antrim. They lived at Holywell,
Dundrum before moving to Killiney until they finally emigrated to Canada in 1921.
4 George Charles Caulfield born 26.08.1864 at Slane.
3 Esther Teresa Caulfield baptised on 28.09.1832 at Castledermot.
4 Margaret Rosanna Caulfield baptised on 24.08.1834 at Castledermot.
5 Daniel Caulfield born circa 1838 died on 29.08.1861 aged 23 years at Levitstown.
6 Hester Caulfield of 181 Phibsboro Road, Dublin in 1867.
7 Joseph Caulfield youngest son born circa 1841 married Catherine Teeling 2nd
daughter of John Francis Teeling of Mountjoy Street, Dublin on 10.08.1869 at the
Pro Cathedral, Dublin. Joseph died on 06.04.1883 aged 42 years at Levistown.
Probate to widow Catherine.
8 Mary Caulfield was admitted a Sister on 02.02.1843 at the Convent of Mercy, Wexford
and died there circa 18.04.1855.
9 Alicia Caulfield daughter of William became a Nun on 24.04.1855 at the Convent of the
Sisters of Charity at Our Lady’s Mount, Harolds Cross. Alice Mary Caulfield died on
28.01.1858 at the Convent of the Sisters of Charity, Donnybrook.
