Michael Casey born circa 1861 son of Michael Casey. He was as farmer of Tinnerath and
married Mary Nugent on 21 Jun 1879 at Clongeen Chapel, Carrickbyrne, Co Wexford. Mary
was the daughter of Martin Nugent, a farmer of Ballinamona. They farmed at Ballinamona
and they had ten children. Mary died 5 Feb 1932 and Michael died on 30 Dec 1933.
1 Laurence Casey born 13 Aug 1880 in Ballinamona, Co Wexford. He married Mary
Cleary on 6 June 1904 at Taghmon Parish church. Laurence was a school attendance
officer and an insurance agent. Mary was resident at Tottenham Green, Wexford and
the daughter of James Cleary, a labourer. Shortly after the birth of her first child,
Mary contracted scarlet fever and was seriously ill for a number of weeks. Laurence
was active in local politics and was a candidate in the local elections of 1908 but was
not elected. They lived at Fouksmills, Wexford in 1911 and at Rockville, Dundrum in
1920 and was still the leaseholder in 1936. He was chairman and managing director
of Irish National Assurance Company Ltd and a director of Maunsel & Roberts Ltd
(Printers and Publishers). He had offices at St Andrew’s Street and in Ashford, Co
Wicklow and was an auctioneer and insurance broker in 1924. He bought a farm at
Ballyhenry, Ashford which failed. He set up a company called the General Brokers
Corporation in 1929. Laurence of 76 Grove Park Rathmines was sentenced to 18 months
for fraud in 1930. Mary died at Galbally, Enniscorthy 16 Feb 1957 aged 80. Lawrence,
a widower died on Feb 1964 at St John’s Hospital Enniscorthy late of Galbally,
Enniscorthy.

Cleary on 18 Jun 1923 at Clongeen Church. John was a herd from Ballycarn in Co
Wicklow and the son of James Cleary, a labourer.
3 Catherine (Kate) Casey born 31 May 1884 at Ballinamona, Co Wexford died a spinster
on 29 Jan 1951 at Ballinamona.
4 Michael (Mike) Casey born 18 Nov 1885 at Ballinamona, Co Wexford died a bachelor
on 9 Aug 1930.
5 Mary Casey born circa 1886 died 7 Sep 1897 at Ballinamona aged 10.
6 John Casey born 16 Nov 1888 in Co Wexford went to America for a few years. He
married Catherine (Kate) Aspel on 17 Sep 1916 in New York. Catherine was the
daughter of Peter and Kate Aspel. On their return from America in 1925, they farmed
at Tinnerath. John was involved in the GAA and Tug O’War. Kate died at Wexford
Hospital on 14 Apr 1965.

7 Martin Casey born 21 Apr 1890 at Ballinamona Co Wexford. He married Ellen Aspel
on 1 Mar 1927 at Clongeen Church. Ellen was the daughter of Peter & Kate Aspel of
Foulksmills. Ellen died 5 Nov 1974 survived by her husband Martin and two daughters.
8 Anastatia (Stasia) Casey born 1 Aug 1891 in Co Wexford. Stasia was living at Ballinamona
in 1951 and put the 30 acres farm up for let. She died a spinster in 1971 at Harristown,
Dunboyne, the home of her niece.
9 James (Jim) Casey born 16 Jul 1893 in Ballinamona, Co Wexford. He lost the sight of one
of his eyes when he was four. He was educated at Clongeen NS and studied agriculture
for a year at Ramsgate Agricultural College before returning to the family farm to work
for a year. He then served his time as a carpenter and had his own cart making business
in New Ross which he closed in 1924. He married Annie Furlong on 13 Nov 1929 and
they opened a general stores shop in Kilmore which Annie ran and he continued to work
as a carpenter. They built their own house in Foulkmills which included a shop. Their
only child died in infancy. Anne died on 18 May 1961 and he moved to Wellingtonbridge
where he died in 1982.
10 Nicholas (Nick) Casey youngest son born 9 Feb 1896 in Ballinamona, Co Wexford. He
married Mary Doyle on 15 Jun 1921 ay Newbawn Church, Carrigbyrne, Co Wexford. Mary
was the daughter of John Doyle a farmer of Newbawn. Nicholas was active in the IRA.
Mary died 18 May 1936 at Newbawn aged 37.
Nicholas secondly married Mary Dillon of Newbawn on 27 Mar 1940. Nicholas died at
Newbawn survived by a son and three daughters.
