Garett Byrne, farmer of Annacurra, Co Wicklow married Bridget Doyle at Killavaney Church on 5 Mar 1848.
1 Philip Byrne born circa 1855 at County Wicklow married Bridget Ryan, who was also
born in County Wicklow and the daughter of the late Thomas Ryan of Stillorgan and his
wife Bridget, at Booterstown church on 7 Jan 1879. Philip was a grocer living at 36
Lower Mount Street. He was a member of the Rural District Council and Rathdown
Guardians and instigated getting water fountains installed at Newtown Park, Brewery
Road, Stillorgan and Cabinteeley. He was also instrumental in getting gas lighting
installed in 1900. He was appointed a member of the Agricultural and Technical
Instruction Committee connection with the Council in 1908. They had seven children.
Bridget died 8 Sep 1922 age 70. In 1932 Philip was knocked down by a bus at Galloping
Green and died. He was buried at Deansgrange.
1 Gerald Thomas Byrne born circa 1880 died 30 Aug 1887.
2 James J Byrne born 27 Jan 1881 was baptised at Blackrock Church. He married
Mary Jane Teevan, a neighbour and daughter of the late Thomas Teevan at
Cabinteeley Church on 26 Jul 1911 and became the proprietor of the Leopardstown
Mart grocery and licenced premises from 1911. He was involved in the GAA and
was a founder member of Foxrock Geraldines and Dun Laoghaire Shamrocks. He
was a member of the Rathdown Borough Council. He retired due to ill health in
1936 and died 1940 16 Aug 1940 at 23 New Cottages, Ballinteer. His funeral was at
Holy Cross Dundrum and was buried at Deansgrange. Bellevue farm was sold after his
death in 1941 and sold again in 1989. After his death his children carried on the family
business at Trinity Bar, Trinity Street. Mary Jane of 23 Ballinteer Avenue died 5 Nov 1959
aged 70 at St Columcilles Hospital, Loughlinstown.

3 Bridget Mary Byrne born circa 1882 died 6 Nov 1883 and was buried at Deansgrange.
4 Philip Dominic Byrne born circa 1884, grocer and farmer of Bellevue married Louisa
(Louie) May, the daughter of Thomas May, sailor of 120 Lower Georges Street,
Kingstown on 10 Nov 1913 at St Michael's Church, Kingstown. He was held up at
gunpoint by raiders in 1925. He changed the name of the public house to
Philipstown House circa 1945. Louisa died at Belview farm 29 Dec 1936 age 45.
Philip and Louisa are buried at Deansgrange.
1 Maureen Byrne married and had three children.
2 Francis Gerard Byrne born 10 Oct 1915 at Denmark House Nursing Home. Age 21
he was knocked down at Whitecross (hit and run) and ended up in Monkstown
hospital with a fractured skull. He joined the British army, Royal Artillery, he was a
Lance Bombadier when captured in Singapore and was sent to Formosa POW camp
and died there 5 May 1943 from Rheumatic fever.
5 Edward Joseph Byrne born 17 Jan 1887 was baptised at Booterstown married Esmina
(Esme) Kerin daughter of Edward Kerin of 8 The Crescent, Monkstown at St Patrick's Church,
Monkstown on 12 Apr 1914. He went on to run the Central Hotel in Greystones. Esme
died 1 May 1931 aged 43 years at Galloping Green and Edward died 17 Feb 1961 at St
Michael's Hospital.
1 Gerald Francis Bryrne was a grocer of Galloping Green. He married Margaret (Madge)
O'Donnell from Greystones at Delgany on 12 Apr 1939. She died 14 Mar 1947 at
Philipstown House age 31 and was buried at Deansgrange. Gerry married again and
had two children. His son carries on the business to the fourth generation.
2 Stillborn daughter Byrne buried at Deansgrange August 1922.
6 Mary Anne Byrne born 24 Nov 1889 was baptised at Booterstown.
7 Anastatia Margaret (Statia) Byrne born 13 Aug 1892 at Galloping green was
baptised at Booterstown and died a spinster in 1940.
