Robert Bruce born 26.04.1841 at Keig, Aberdeen son of Alexander Bruce and Agnes Mitchel.
Having farmed at Newton on Strutherd, he became a land agent in Yorkshire. Robert was
appointed Agricultural Superintendent of the Royal Dublin Society in 1894. Robert also
acted as judge at many agricultural shows around the country. They lived at Cherbury
from 1900 to 1909. A severe storm on 26 Feb 1903 blew down a large chimney stack which
fell through the roof of a bedroom at Cherbury blocking the door. Mr and Mrs Bruce had to
be rescued through the window. Robert retired in 1917 and they moved to Firlands,
Fochabers. Robert died 14.12.1920 at Aberdeen and is buried at Bellie Old Cemetery. Sophia
died at Fochabers and is buried with her husband.

is buried at Bellie Old Cemetery.
5 Sophia Jane (Dolly) Bruce born circa 1878 in Yorkshire. She was secretary to Sir Thomas
Myles in 1911. She died of pneumonia on 20.06.1921 at Tunis, Morocco and is buried at
Bellie Old Cemetery.
6 Ada Goodman Bruce born circa 1881 Yorkshire and died 18.12.1887 aged 6 years at Great
Smeaton, Yorkshire.
7 William Alexander Mitchell Bruce born circa 1883 Yorkshire and died 10.01.1886 aged 3
years at Great Smeaton, Yorkshire.
8 Marjory Mitchell Bruce youngest daughter born circa 1885 Yorkshire. Marjory a midwife
attached to the Rotunda Hospital married Francis Joseph O’Callaghan a civil engineer son
of John Joseph O’Callaghan an architect of Dublin on 16.10.1925 at Elgin. Francis died on
24.08.1939 aged 63 years at Hampstead, Glasnevin late of Firlands, Silchester Road,
Glenageary.
