Francis Tempest Brady born 1762 was a manufacturer of gold and silver lace. He was
lacemaker to the Lord Lieutenant and made the states dresswear for Ulster, Heralds and
trumpeters. He married Charlotte Hodgeson on 7 Mar 1789 at St John’s Dublin. He
moved from Cork Hill to 43 Dame Street in 1806. His premises were burgled in 1815 and
over 160 ounces of melted gold and silver valued at 320L was stolen. That same year he
resigned the firm to his brothers and a son and it became G W & R Brady. He was church
warden of St Andrew’s in 1817. He was appointed a commissioner of the Peace in 1818.
His brother Cheyne leased the Ballymurtage mines from the Hibernian Mining Company of
Avoca. Francis and his family lived at Willow Park from 1807 to 1821. Francis died
10 Apr 1821 at his townhouse at 99 Baggot Street and Charlotte died 10 Jul 1822 at 99
Baggot Street.

2 Nicholas William Brady eldest son born 16 Feb 1791. He was an
accoutrement maker, of Dublin. He married Catherine Anne Emily Hodgson
in October 1815. Catherine was the daughter of Peter Jacob Hodgson,
Comptroller of Customs. He was knighted by King George IV on 24 Aug 1821.
He was elected an alderman in 1833 and resigned the family firm to his son
Cheyne in 1839. He served as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1840. He was later a
coroner of Dublin. Catherine died 12 Jul 1839 at Dublin and was buried at
Mount Jerome. Sir Nicholas Brady died 28 Nov 1843 at Larkhall Lane,
Clapham, London and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery.

2 Cheyne Brady born circa 1817 took over the family firm in 1839. He
married Anna Maria Thompson at St Andrew's Church on 16 May 1839.
He traded from 43 Dame Street as a silver and gold lacemaker as
Cheyne Brady & Co. In 1841 Cheyne, son of the late Lord Mayor, was
appointed registrar to his uncle, the Chief Baron and later a Dublin
coroner. Anna Maria died 4 Jan 1851 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
Cheyne died at Cannes on 3 Jun 1898.
3 George Frederick Augustus Brady born August 1821 at Baggot Street.
4 William Maziere Brady born circa 1824 took Holy orders and was
rector of Newmarket, Cork.
5 Elizabeth Letitia Brady born circa 1823 married Dr James Henry
Wharton. They had at least seven children. Elizabeth died 28 Apr 1875
at 28 Upper Mount Street.
6 Amelia Dorothea Brady died in 21 Feb 1888 at Pembroke Road and
was buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Letitia Synge Brady eldest daughter born 4 Jul 1794 died a spinster at 19
Heytesbury Terrace on 23 Nov 1859 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
4 Maziere Brady second son born 20 Jul 1796 at Parliament Street, Dublin. He
was educated at Trinity College Dublin and graduated in 1816. He entered the
Middle Temple in 1816, was called to the Bar in 1819 and became King's
Counsel in 1835. He married Elizabeth Anne Buchanan in 1823. Elizabeth
was the daughter of Bever Buchanan, apothecary of Dublin, and his wife
Eleanor Hodgson. He was appointed Solicitor-General for Ireland in 1837
and Attorney General for Ireland the following year. In 1840 he was appointed
Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer in Ireland. In 1846 he was appointed Lord
Chancellor of Ireland. He was a founder member of the Stephen's Green Club
and a member of the Royal Dublin Society and the Royal Irish Academy. They
lived at Hazelbrook in Terenure. Elizabeth died 15 Jun 1858 at Hazelbrook.
1 Francis William Brady born 22 Jul 1824 was a barrister and later a
judge. He succeeded to the title on the death of his father. He was a
founder of the Royal Academy of Music. Francis married Emily Kyle
on 7 Nov 1847 at St Peter’s Church Dublin. Emily died on 4 Aug 1891
at Wasdale, Terenure. They had two children: a daughter Marion and
a son Maziere Kyle. He secondly married Geraldina Hatchell on
17 Dec 1892. Francis died 26 Aug 1909 at Sorento Cottage Dalkey.
2 Maziere John Brady born 1827 was a barrister. He married Elizabeth
Longfield at Inch Parish Church on 13 Aug 1853. Elizabeth was the
youngest daughter of the late Rev Robert Longfield of Castle Mary,
Cloyne. He became the second Baronet on the death of his father.
They had at least four children. His eldest son Robert became the
third Baronet and died in 1909. The title became extinct on the death
of his second son William Longfield Brady in 1927.
3 Eleanor Brady born circa 1828 married the Rev Benjamin Hale
Puckle, Rector of Graffham on 20 Jul 1853 at Rathfarnham Parish
Church. Elizabeth died 18 Feb 1891, no issue found. Benjamin died
in 1892.
4 Charlotte Louisa Brady second daughter born circa 1829 married
the Reverend John Westropp Brady at St Peter’s Church Dublin on
11 Oct 1864. John was the Rector of Aghadoe, Killarney and later
Rector of Slane and Charlotte was a composer and hymn writer.
John died 1 Mar 1902 at Slane and Charlotte died 1 Apr 1913 at
Adelaide Road, Kingstown. No issue found.
5 Elizabeth Anne Brady
Maziere secondly married Mary Hatchell in 1860. Mary was the daughter of
John Hatchell, Attorney General, and his wife Elizabeth Waddy. He retired in
1866 and was made a baronet, of Hazelbrook in the County of Dublin in 1869.
He died on 13 Apr 1871 at Pembroke Street and was buried at Mount Jerome.
Lady Brady died in 1891.
5 Mary Anne Brady second daughter born circa 1801 died at the Hot Wells,
Bristol on 14 Apr 1817.
6 Dorothea Brady born circa 1803 married The Rev Carlile Courtenay at St
Peter’s Church Dublin on 1 Jun 1842. Carlile was the Incumbent of
Ballycaston, Co Antrim and the son of Carlile Courtenay. Dorothea was
resident at 8 Pembroke Road. Witnesses: Richard Wright & J W Campbell.
Dorothea died 21 Mar 1874 at 5 Waterloo Road, her husband Carlisle the
informant.
7 Charlotte Brady born circa 1804 married John Mollan, MD on 21 Sep 1825.
Charlotte died 16 May 1875 at 60 Fitzwilliam Square.
8 Francis Tempest Brady youngest son born circa 1809 took holy orders and
was ordained to the parish of Cork in 1831. He married Fanny Norman on
24 Sep 1839 at St Thomas’s Church, Dublin. Fanny was the eldest daughter
John Norman, of North Cumberland-street. He was appointed rector of
Kilshannig and in 1849 he was appointed rector of Kilworth, diocese of
Cloyne and in 1861 he went to St Mary’s Clonmel. He was a fluent Irish
speaker Francis died at the rectory in Clonmel on 8 Mar 1874.

2 Charlotte Brady born circa 1842.
3 Horace Newman Brady eldest son born 12 Aug 1843 at Gardeville,
Bandon was a captain in the Militia. He died a bachelor at Charlemont
Street on 1 Nov 1894.
4 Letitia Dorothea Brady born 12 Nov 1844 at Gardeville, Bandon.
5 Anne Frances Brady born circa 1845.
6 Harriett Brady born 1848 in Mallow.
7 Francis Tempest William Brady born circa 1849 in Dublin. He died
