Thomas Boys an attorney of Dublin married Margaret Athy on 5 Apr 1774 in the parish
of St Andrews.
1 Philip Boys eldest son born circa 1780 in Dublin. He was resident at Rutland
Square and married Mary Anderson on 10 Dec 1800 and he was also reported
as having been married at the Recorder's Office in Dominic Street later that
year. He was an attorney of 61 Henry Street and later at 48 Eccles Street, Old
Dominick Street and 55 Blessington Street. They lived at Anna Field from 1820
to 1824. Philip died in 1824 at French Street, Dublin. Mary and her daughter
lived at Anna Field until at least 1830. Mary died on 9 Jan 1869 aged 84 at
Erkindale, Queen’s County.

2 Joanna Boys youngest daughter born circa 1823 married Charles Paulett
White son of Robert White of Woodview and Old Park, Queens County
on 11 Apr 1850 at Aghavoe Church near Rathdowney. Joanna died
21 May 1880 and was buried at Rathdowney. Charles died in 10 Jun 1895
at Erkindale. His nephew in law Edward Barrett, the informant.
2 Edmund French Boys born circa 1788. He joined the 45th/ Nottinghamshire
Regiment of Foot as an ensign in 1808 and served in the Peninsula Wars. He
married Catherine Alicia (Araminta) Edwards on 18 Dec 1817 at St George’s
Church. He saw action at Sabugal and the Battles of Fuentes d'Onoro where
he was wounded. He fought at Orthes, and Toulouse where he was again
wounded. He also served in the Burmese War. He attained the rank of major in
1830 and lieutenant colonel in 1832. He was posted to Belfast in 1840 and to
the Cape of Good Hope in 1843. By 1850 Colonel Boys had been appointed
administrator of the district of Natal and was acting Lieutenant Governor in 1851.
He retired in 1853. Edmund died at Sandford Terrace, Ranelagh on 11 Sep 1856
and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Edward French Boys eldest son born circa 1819 in Ceylon graduated
Trinity College. He served with the 45th Regiment like his father. He
died 7 Feb 1847 at Erkindale, Queen’s County.
2 John Boys died at Erkindale, the residence of his aunt on 13 April 1848.
