William Boxer born circa 1786 in Donegal. He joined the Royal Navy and attained the
rank of Commander. He married Ann Fuller at St Mary's Dover on 23.05.1810. Ann died
circa 1826. William* was also a painter (watercolors) and a painting of Crohy House is in
the British Maritime Museum in Greenwich. He also painted local points of interest. “Na Bristi
(breeches) aka Crohy Water Stack.
1 James Fuller Boxer eldest son of Captain William Boxer RN of Ballyare promoted to rank of
Master in the Navy on 06.10.1838. James of Crohy House married Matilda Mary Sturdee
eldest daughter of Thankful Sturdee of Naval Yard, Portsmouth on 15.06.1841 at St Mary’s,
Portsea, Hampshire.
2 Ann Boxer eldest daughter baptised in 1819 living at Ballyare Lodge married Lieut John
Holland Royal Navy on 09.02.1836 at the Parish Church of Kilmacrenan, Donegal. John died
in 1843.
Ann married secondly John Scudamore son of John Scudamore of Banagher on 26.11.1846
at St Peter’s Church, Dublin.
3 Frances Pennyman Boxer 3rd daughter born 03.12.1818 married Alfred Norman of Donegal
on 09.11.1852 at Jesus Chapel, Pear Tree Green, Southampton. The family were living in
Lewisham in 1881.
William secondly married Frances Emma Duckworth on 06.02.1827 at Sibertswold, Kent. He died
at his residence Crohy House, Maghery, Dungloe, Donegal on 18.02.1845 and Frances died on
12.01.1859 aged 66 years at Constantine, Cornwall.
4 Henry Bazely Boxer born 07.11.1827 died on 23.04.1853 aged 25 years at Bosvathic near
Falmouth, Cornwall.
5 Alexander Fraser Boxer born circa 1830 in Dover living at Tenchfield Terrace, Sandymount
married Deborah Frances Olivia Galwey daughter of William Galway of Leeson Street, Dublin
on 23.06.1862 at St Stephen’s Church, Dublin. Alexander was Master of 17-gun wooden screw
sloop HMS Alert and served on the British Columbia Coast 1858-1861 under Commander
William Pearse a Commander Royal Navy of HMS Hesper store ship, Hongkong in 1862. He
was an Inspector of Irish Lights on board the 'Alert' from 1881 to 1892. Alexander and
Deborah lived at Netley, Blackrock, St Leonard's, Avoca Avenue and in Lota on Cross Avenue
from 1894 and moved to Rocklands, Dalkey in 1905. Alexander died on 18.11.1907 aged 77
years at Rocklands, Dalkey and Deborah died on 20.02.1909 aged 66 years at 5 The Crescent,
Monkstown.
6 Isabella Maria Bazely Boxer 4th daughter born circa 1832 married William Mayn 2nd son of
the late James Mayn of Calamansick on 15.06.1853 at Constantine, Cornwall.
7 Eliza Mary Boxer born circa 1834 at Fernhill, Donegal married Charles James Houghton on
24.06.1863 at St Andrew’s, Thornhill Square, Islington.
8 Sidney Smith Boxer born circa 1835 at Ballyare Lodge near Ramilton.
9 Frances Emma Boxer born circa 1837 at Balygore Lodge, Donegal.
