John Bolton 2nd Son of Robert Crompton Bolton and Elizabeth Rose Massy Dawson took the
name of Massy on inheriting the estate of his grand uncle the Hon John Massy. John of
Merrion Square a Barrister married Jane Greene 3rd daughter of Major William Greene and
his wife Jane Massy (daughter of the second Lord Massy) of Lota House, Co Cork. He was
chair of the committee to enlarge the church of SS Philip & James in Booterstown. Jane was
a fund raiser for the Bird’s Nest on York Road and the Ragged Schools. They lived at Castle
Dawson from 1846 to 1847 and at Clairville from 1856. John died 04.02.1871 at Clareville
and Jane died 27.02.1878 also at Clareville. Both are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Robert Dawson Bolton Massy eldest son born 27.12.1816 and died 06.10.1869.
2 John Bolton Massy 2nd son born 20.02.1818 baptised 14.03.1818 at St Peter’s, Church.
John educated at Trinity and was called to the bar in 1840. In 1876 John owned 2259
acres in Limerick and 903 acres in Dublin. John died 01.10.1896 aged 79 years at
Ballywire late of Clareville, Booterstown and Ballywire. He left nearly 17K in personal
estate.
3 Elizabeth Rosetta Bolton Massy only daughter born 16.06.1819 at Merrion Square
married James William Butler Scott only son of James Edmond Scott of Anne Grove
Abbey, Queens County on 28.06.1851 at St Peter’s. Elizabeth died circa 1859 and James
died on 22.04.1889 aged 84 years at Annegrove Abbey.
1 Elizabeth Rosetta Scott eldest daughter born 03.09.1852 at Mountrath married
Sir John Hawley Glover RN Governor of Newfoundland on 07.11.1876 at St
Mary’s Church, Plaistow, Kent. John died on 30.09.1885 at 35 Harley Street,
London. Elizabeth died on 08.02.1927 aged 74 years at 68 Carlisle Mansions.
2 Jane Scott born 17.01.1854 at Annegrove, Queens County. Jane was staying at
the Royal Marine Hotel, Kingstown with her father and sister and was accidently
killed when she fell through a skylight of the Portico of the Hotel on 23.07.1880
aged 26 years.
3 James William Edmond Scott born circa 1855 at Annegrove. James was a Ward
of Chancery in 1901 living at Killleany, Queen’s County and died there on
01.10.1929 aged 74 years.
4 Charlotte Annie Scott 25.01.1857 at Annegrove married John Buchan-Sydserff
eldest son of Thomas Buchan-Sydserff of Haddingtonshire on 09.09.1893 at
Galbally Church, Limerick.
5 Frances Catherine Scott youngest daughter born circa 1859 married Stafford
Delmege a Widower of 36 Upper Fitzwilliam Street son of Rev John Delmege late
Rector of Youghal on 05.06.1890 at Booterstown Church. Fannie and Stafford
were staying at the Shelbourne Hotel in 1901. Fannie died of TB on 24.02.1912
aged 52 years at St Patricks Hospital, Cork.
4 William Bolton Massy 3rd and younger son born circa 1823 died unmarried on
15.11.1844 at his father’s house near Booterstown.
