The Blackall family are regarded as being the oldest non aristocratic families in Ireland as they
have records dating back to 1598. They held extensive lands in Co Clare which they farmed and

home came under fire. Shot and bullets reigned into the house where Thomas, Helena
and Helena’s brother were playing drafts. Helen was pregnant and close to the end of
her confinement but no child’s birth was registered to the family. This and the death of
Thomas’ father probably prompted the move to Dublin and they were living at Terenure

compensation for the loss of cattle. Thomas died 6 May 1945 at Marino Park and was
buried with his eldest son and mother at Deansgrange. Helena Agnes Blackall became
tenant for life of the leasehold interest in a dwelling house and lands known as Marino
Park, 44 Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock by virtue of a marriage settlement dated
October 1904 on the death of her husband. Helena kept Sealyham Terriers and entered
them in shows, she also took part in flower competitions. She died 10 Mar 1977 and was
buried at Deansgrange. Her will of 1966 left Marino Park to her three daughters but a
second will in 1976 directed that her executors were to sell, convert and otherwise deal
with her property real and personal and to divide the proceeds equally among her said
children after payment of all her just debts and testamentary expenses.

Dale, Blackrock and was buried at Deansgrange. His quarter share in Marino
park was left to his second wife Iris who he married in 1983 when he was 70

1 Joseph Felix George Blackall born circa 1913 in Australia.
Rose and Eileen were evicted from Marino Park in 1998 after lengthy court battles following their
failure to re-establish a family trust on lands in Clare which their father set up on his marriage to
Helena Agnes O’Brien. She was named tenant for life. His son Gerard was removed from the
trust in 1937 following a dispute.
Said trust was transferred to Marino Park after Thomas sold the trust lands to finance the purchase
said property. His grandson, William Blackall, revealed on television in 2006 that his grandfather
destroyed the trust documents and sold ten acres in 1939 to settle his personal debts, thus depriving
his daughters of their rightful inheritance. His grandmother and aunts were unaware of this and
thus fought in vain to re-establish the trust…lives destroyed.
