Christopher Beatty born circa 1840 son of Patrick Beatty, a law clerk. Christopher a
mercantile commission agent of Irishtown married Catherine (Kate) Henderson on
23 Jul 1867 at St Catherine’s Church, Dublin. Kate died 17 Mar 1883 at 5 London Bridge
Road.
1 John Joseph Beatty born 12 May 1869 at 26 Sandymount Road served his
apprenticeship with John Buckley and was sworn in as a solicitor of the supreme
court in 1891. He married Ethel Violet Boyle on 30 Oct 1918 at the Carmelite
Church in Kildare on 30 Oct 1918. Ethel was the daughter of Alexander Boyle, a
journalist and was resident at 1 Waterloo Place. Their only daughter was a
recipient of the John Brooke Scholarship and was called to the bar in 1950. John
died 29 Jul 1945 at Tullyvin, Merrion Road. His funeral mass was held at Star of
the Sea Church and he was buried at Deansgrange. Ethel died at the Adelaide
Hospital late of Tullyvin Merrion on 19 Sep 1969 aged 76 and was buried at
Deansgrange.
2 Thomas Beatty born 21 Jan 1874 in Manchester was a clerk and married Mary
Norman on 27 Oct 1909 at St Joseph's Church, Berkeley Road. Mary was resident
at Valentia Place and the daughter of Thomas Norman, a clerk. They were living
at Phibsborough Road in 1911 and had no children.
Christopher secondly married Ellen Florence (Ellie) Devlin at St Kevin’s, Dublin in 2 Aug 1888.
Ellie was a widow and daughter of Richard Corr. They were living at Waterloo Road in 1901
and Sandford Terrace in 1911. Ellie died 6 Dec 1917 and was buried at Deansgrange.
Christopher died 6 Jun 1921 at 6 Waterloo Road and was buried at Deansgrange.
3 Walter Beatty third son born 21 Jul 1889 at Upper Clanbrasil Street. He served his
apprenticeship at his brother’s firm (Vincent & Beatty of 8 Eustace Street) and
was sworn in as a solicitor in 1911. His practice was at62/3 Dame Street. He was
living at 78 Waterloo Road and married Alice M Fitzpatrick on 2 Jan 1924 at
Donnybrook Church. Alice was living at Irwinstown, Co Fermanagh and was the
eldest daughter of John Fitzpatrick, a farmer of Scots House, Clones. Walter’s
offices were at 62/3 Dame Street. They lived at Woodlawn, Churchtown from
1933 to 1940. Walter died 15 Nov 1949 at Ard Righ, Rathmines and was buried
at Deansgrange.
4 Cyril Beatty born 13 Aug 1890 at Upper Clanbrasil Street was educated at the
Catholic University School and the Royal University. He was called to the bar in
1911 and appointed a district judge in 1922. He married Iva Golding on
23 Jul 1924 at the University Church in Dublin. Iva was the daughter of Francis
Golding a medical doctor of Headford, Galway. Cyril died 23 Oct 1968 and was
buried in Deansgrange. Iva died 3 Aug 1982 and was buried with her husband.
1 Francis Christopher Beatty only son of Pembroke Road was a barrister.
He died 15 July 1955 aged 28 after the two seater Tiger Moth plane in
which he was travelling failed when completing a stunt and crashed in
Killiney Bay. His funeral mass was held at Haddington Road and he was
buried in the vaults at the Pro Cathedral.
5 Joseph Harold Beatty born 6 Jun 1894 at 1 Waterloo Place was an apprentice
dentist in 1911. He enlisted and fought during WW1. He married Gladys (Nellie)
E E Budge in 1923 at Islington. They were living 274 Worple Road, Merton in
1939 and Joseph a retired builder was involved with Air Raid Precautions, the
Demolition Squad and Rescue Services. Joseph died in 1964.
6 Christopher Beatty died at Waterloo Road on 24 Nov 1895 aged 6 months.
7 Philomena Beatty born 4 Jan 1897 at 87 Waterloo Road was educated at the
Ursuline School in Thurles where her aunt Ursula Beatty was Mother Superior.
She married Martin Cyril Maguire on 2 Jan 1919 St Mary’s Haddington Road.
Martin was a barrister resident at Woodstock Gardens and the son of John
Maguire, a merchant. They lived at 39 Park Avenue, Sandymount and Martin
was appointed a judge in 1940.

Street.
2 Martin Cyril Maguire born 2 Mar 1922 at 40 Upper Fitzwilliam Street.
8 Edward Arthur Beatty born 24 Feb 1898 at 87 Waterloo Road baptised at
Haddington Road living with his parents in 1911. He entered Trinity in 1916 and
attended his brother’s funeral in 1945. It is thought he was an auctioneer of
Dawson Street.
