William Allebyrn married Evista Dempsey

William Allebyrn, farmer of Stillorgan was born circa 1740. He married Evista Dempsey from
Windy Arbour on 23 Feb 1772 at Booterstown. Their witnesses were Dan & Elizabeth Dempsey
and Jonas Bourke. His father was Joseph Alliburn who died when he was about seven. He had
four sisters; Catherine, Ann, Mary and Allice and their uncle John Alliburn became their guardian.
William was a farmer and owned/leased about 50 acres known as Callery, he may also have been a
land agent. It is thought they lived at Orne Cottage in Kilmacud. His farm was situated between
the demesne of Lord Fitzwilliam at Mount Merrion and the demesne of the Lord Chancellor at
Redesdale. He died 10 May 1800 and is buried at Stillorgan graveyard. Will proved 27 May 1800.
Allebyrn Avenue is marked on old estate maps of Stillorgan and what was known as the Callery
Road back then is known today as Lower Kilmacud Road. Evista was living at the Cottage of
Kilmacud in 1804. She continued to sell/lease on property including two in Windy Arbour in 1806.
In 1808 she was robbed by two footpads with a blunderbuss when travelling from Dublin to Mr
Tucker in Rathmines*. The thieves took £200 in cash and bills (about 12k in todays money) from
her and made her shake hands with them before they departed with their spoils.

Emmet. He is mentioned in his father's will. He married Mary Andoe in 1808.
8 Ann Allyburn baptised at Booterstown 15 Sep 1779, married Thomas Andoe at
Booterstown on 19 Jul 1806, their witnesses were John Tucker & George Moor.
9 John Allebyrn born circa 1780. He is mentioned in his father's will and died in 1866.
