Adam Scott born circa 1842 in Armagh son of George Scott. He was a wine merchant of
Stephen's Street, Dublin when he married Annie Eliza Little on 12.12.1865 at the
Presbyterian Meeting House in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone. Annie was the only daughter of
Francis Little of Aughnacloy. They lived at Trimleston from 1883 to 1907 where Annie died
on 26.02.1907. She is buried at Mount Jerome. Adam purchased the Banagher Distillery
in 1887 and closed it in 1890. In 1905* he was involved in an 'unusual scandal'. It was
reported in the newspapers that he would be managing a new company to sell wine to the
nobility and the Roman Catholic hierarchy. The directors included Mark Stokes O'Callaghan
and Lord Lurgan, yet the directors seemed to be unaware of this new venture. It is thought
that Adam left Trimleston after the death of his wife and leased the house to Mark O'Callaghan.
His business was based at 44 Upper Sackville Street in 1910 and had a bonded warehouse at
High Street and he was appointed a JP by Lord John Campbell Hamilton-Gordon, 7th Earl of
Aberdeen, the Lord Lieutenant. They had export offices at 199 Piccadilly, London.
Prior to his death in 1923, Adam had lived for some time at the Gresham Hotel. During the
War of Independence he had to be removed from the Gresham hotel by stretcher and
settled in a nursing home. Upon his death his son Francis took over the business. Adam,
died on 15.02.1923 late of 44 Upper Sackville Street; informant his daughter Nora. He left
62k in personal estate in England and is buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Francis George Scott born 05.11.1866 at 104 Tritonville Road. Francis died on
31.03.1871 aged 4 years at Baggot Street Hospital following an accident where
he was driven over by a horse on Serpentine Avenue. He is buried at Mount
Jerome.
2 Adam Scott born 04.10.1867 at 104 Tritonville Road an infant died on 27.03.1868
and is buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Edith Jane Scott born 01.08.1869 at 104 Tritonville Road. She married Frederick
Charles Cowen at Trimleston on 19.08.1893. Frederick was living at Kenilworth and
was the son of William Cowen, a surgeon. Frederick took Holy orders and they were
living at the Vicerage Wickham Street, Bexley, Kent with their two children in 1911.
Edith died in Mannheim, Germany on 25.07.1936.
4 Adam Edmund Scott born 31.12.1870 at Danvilla Tritonville Road and died 25.02.1898
aged 27 years at Trimleston and is buried at Mount Jerome.
5 William John Scott born 27.10.1872 at 18 Belgrave Square. William a wine
merchant married Florence Elizabeth Sinclair on 12.10.1898 at St Mary’s Parish
Church, Donnybrook. Florence was the daughter of William Henry Sinclair of
Bellgrove, Donnybrook. The family lived at Tritonville Road. William died of TB on
08.05.1902 aged 28 years at Anglesea Villas and is buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Hilda Elizabeth Scott born 19.10.1899 at 79 Tritonville Road.
6 Robert Scott born 26.12.1873 at 18 Belgrave Square and died on 06.01.1874
aged 11 days at same place and is buried at Mount Jerome.
7 George Scott born 05.03.1876 at 18 Belgrave Square, Monkstown. He was a
bookkeeper living with his parents in 1901. In 1911 he was unmarried, living with
the Pollock family working as a building accountant.
8 Francis Walter Scott 4th son born 15.03.1877 at 18 Belgrave Square. Francis a
merchant joined the family firm circa 1890 and established a wine trade in Oporto.
He died unmarried on 23.10.1937 aged 60 years at Jerez, Strand Road, Sutton, Co
Dublin. Funeral to St Fintan’s, Sutton, informant his brother Cecil. He left 25k in
personal estate.
9 Annie Elizabeth Scott born 22.04.1878 at 2 Osborne Terrace, Seapoint living with
her parents in 1901. She married Chester Nugent on 25.02.1907 at Trimleston.
Chester was a merchant living at Chesterfield, Malone Road, Belfast and the son
of James Nugent, a distiller and brewer. Annie, Chester and son Chester were living
in Belfast with his parents in 1911.
10 Emily Anne Scott born 14.08.1879 at 2 Osborne Terrace, Seapoint. She married
Mark Lionel Orr on 13.04.1898 at Trimleston. Mark was a solicitor and the son of
Mark Louis Orr.
11 Eva Maud (Maud) Scott 4th daughter born 06.03.1881 at 2 Osborne Terrace and
died unmarried on 07.04.1942 aged 61 years at a nursing home on Lower Leeson
Street, late of 4 Mount Eden Road, Donnybrook. She is buried at Mount Jerome
with her father.
12 Alfred Darvin Scott born 25.08.1882 at 2 Osborne Terrace, Seapoint. He worked for
Guinness' from 1900. He married** Maureen Helen Cussen on 11.05.1918 at the
Registrars Office in Dublin. Maureen was the daughter of John Cussen, a farmer.
They had one son and lived in Rathgar. Alfred died 05.04.1934 at a Merrion
nursing home late of Rathfarnham Road and is buried at Mount Jerome. Maureen
died in 1949 and is buried with her husband.

13 Walter Scott born 03.05.1884 at Trimleston House living with his parents in
1901.
14 Cecil Scott born 18.07.1885 at Trimleston, Booterstown. Cecil of Grand Canal Quay
married Violet Lilian Wilson daughter of John Frederick Wilson of 33 Northumberland
Road on 25.04.1909 at the Presbyterian Church on Adelaide Road. Witnesses Alfred
Scott and Ethel MacAlister. They lived at Ulverton Road, Dalkey in 1911.
15 Norah Helen Scott born 12.08.1887 at Trimleston House. She married James
Ferguson Craig on 13.04.1908 at the Presbyterian Church on Adelaide Road. James
was a blacksmith and the son of Donald Craig. They lived at St Ives, Sydney Parade,
Merrion. James died 20.01.1943 and is interred at Rhyl. Norah died 29.06.1960 at
Baggot Street Hospital and is buried at Mount Jerome.
1 James Donald Craig died 03.05.1912 aged 6 months and is buried at Mount
Jerome.

Adam Scott born circa 1842 in Armagh son of George Scott. He was a wine merchant of

of James Nugent, a distiller and brewer. Annie, Chester and son Chester were living
in Belfast with his parents in 1911.
10 Emily Anne Scott born 14.08.1879 at 2 Osborne Terrace, Seapoint. She married
Mark Lionel Orr on 13.04.1898 at Trimleston. Mark was a solicitor and the son of
Mark Louis Orr.
11 Eva Maud (Maud) Scott 4th daughter born 06.03.1881 at 2 Osborne Terrace and
