George Abbott born circa 1815 in Co Longford was a farmer. He had a holding of 43 acres of land
from the Edgeworth family who owned over 6000 acres in Longford. George married Eliza circa
1840. Eliza died 5 May 1880 and George died on 18 Jul 1901 at Drumderg. William his son the
informant.
1 George Abbott born circa 1842 married Eliza Abbott 24 Dec 1868 at Clonbroney Parish
Church. Eliza was the daughter of Robert Abbott, a farmer of Drumbeg. George had a
nineteen acre farm. The land was sold under the land act of 1908 and George had his son
William sign for him. George died a widower on 1 Nov 1923, his daughter in law Eliza the
informant. A dispute over the land arose in 1924.

2 William Henry Abbott born 23 Sep 1871 at Drumderg married Eliza Carson
31 July 1919 at Clonbroney Parish Church. Eliza was the daughter of Robert
Carson, a labourer. Eliza had worked in America and come home with £200. The
couple had no children. William died 15 Oct 1923 and Eliza stayed on the farm. A
dispute over the land arose in 1924.
3 Catherine Abbott born 24 Jul 1876 emigrated to New Zealand circa 1898.
4 Robert Abbott born 21 Aug 1878 died 23 Aug 1878.
5 Eliza Abbott born 5 Jul 1891 went to New Zealand in 1911. She travelled back to
Ireland in 1922 and again in 1923 to discover her father and brother had passed
away. Eliza secondly married widower, Alexander Moorhead on 5 Feb 1925 at St
John’s Church, Templemichael, Co Longford.
2 John Abbot born circa 1846 married Mary Jane Huston at Clonbroney Church on 8 Jan 1872.
Mary Jane was the daughter of Robert Huston, a blacksmith of Drumderrig. Mary Jane*
died 23 May 1930 aged 80 and John died 4 April 1936. Both are buried at Ballinalee
graveyard.

married Agnes Mary Sherlock on 1 Jul 1929. Agnes was resident at Barrow Street
and the daughter of Edwin Sherlock a shopkeeper. William died 14 Jul 1966
10 Thomas Abbott born 18 Mar 1891 at Drumderg living with his parents in 1911.
11 Arthur Henry Abbott born 28 Feb 1893 at Drumderg moved to Dublin and started
working for Arthur Guinness & Co as a dray driver in 1915. He was resident at
Lott's Road, and married Catherine Laurence on 5 Mar 1928 at Moyne Parish Church,
Co Wicklow. Kate was the daughter of Thomas Laurence. Arthur died on 3 Jun 1945 at
Rueben Street on the SCR and was buried at St John’s Ballinalee with his parents.
12 Edward Abbott born 25 Jan 1895 at Drumderg living with his parents in 1911.
3 William Abbott born circa 1852 married Mary Jane McLoughlin at Mohill Parish Church on
29 Nov 1877. Mary was resident at Rooskey and the daughter of John McLoughlin, a farmer.
Mary died 30 Aug 1882 at Drumderg.
1 Eliza Abbott born 9 Feb 1882 at Drumderig.
William secondly married Mary Johnston on 21 Oct 1886. The family were living in Drumderg
in 1901 and William is a farm servant. William died 26 May 1911 at Drumderg, his son
Robert John the informant. Mary died 31 Mar 1932 at Drumderg, son Robert the informant.

2 Mary Anne Abbott born 6 Jan 1891 at Drumderig.
3 Catherine (Lucy Kate) Abbott born 17 Jul 1894 at Drumderig was a kitchen maid at
Glenvar in 1911. We do not know what happened to her after this.
