Neilstown
NAME Neilstown
AREA LOCATION A small area at the top of what is now the Lower Kilmacud Road
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of
Drommartin.
GENERAL A small village consisting of 13 cottages. There was a Typhus outbreak in
Neilstown in 1850. A water pump was installed in 1898. In the 1940's new houses were built at
Neilstown. With the building of the new Drummartin Road from the shops at corner of
Drummartin Park in the direction of Goatstown. This by passed the Lower Kilmacud Road and
Neilstown. It cut through the lands of Drummartin converting Neilstown into a triangle on the
way to Goatstown.
