Thomas Willson an attorney of Goldenbridge* married Margaret Carmichael of Bride Street
at St Bride’s Church on 25 Oct 1789. Margaret was the daughter of Andrew and Jane
Carmichael and her sister Elinor was married to Walter Bourne. Thomas had his offices
at 48 Bride Street and was executor to his father in law Andrew Carmichael. They were
living in Roebuck by 1817 and were at Friar's Land from 1822 to 1826. He was a
solicitor for upwards of 50 years and died 30 Mar 1838 late of Friar’s Land, Roebuck.
Margaret died at 7 Usher’s Island 14 Sep 1850.
1 Andrew Willson eldest son born circa 1791 educated in County Dublin was admitted
King's Inns. He married Anne Cardwell in at St Thomas' Church in May 1817. Anne was
the youngest daughter of William Cardwell of Tullyelmer, Co Armagh. Andrew died
circa 1825.
2 Margaret Willson eldest daughter married James Mongan of Lower Mount Street on
27 Nov 1822 at Taney Church.
3 James Willson second son born circa 1801 educated in County Dublin was admitted
King's Inns. He married Anne Marie Welsh lately of Youghal on 24 Jan 1826 at Taney
Church. James was a clerk of the Crown Office, Queen’s Bench and died 13 Jan 1878 at
93 Ranelagh Road. He was buried at Mount Jerome.
4 Ellen Willson second daughter married Ledger Willson of Ushers Quay 4 Dec 1838 at
St Paul’s Church. Ledger was the youngest son of the late James Willson of Belbrook,
Co Kildare. Ellen died at Richmond Hill, Rathmines on 1 May 1848 and Ledger
remarried in 1850. Ledger died in 1870 at 7 Ushers Island and was buried in St
James's.
5 Thomas Willson third son educated at Nutgrove, Co Dublin was admitted Kings Inns.
6 Eliza Anne Willson youngest daughter. She was living at 7 Usher’s Island and married
Paul Steele Hunt at St Audeon’s on 9 Oct 1847. Paul was the third son of William
Augustus Hunt of 5 Charleville-Mall, North Strand. He traded at Hunt & Son at 48
Westmoreland Street and they were Indian and Naval outfitters. It appears that their
marriage may not have been a happy one. In 1860 Paul placed a notice in the paper
advising that his wife should not be given credit. Eliza subsequently retorted through
the newspaper that in 13 years of marriage she had provided for him and his children
‘not having received any means whatsoever from him’. Eliza lived at The Rookery,
Rathmines. Paul retired in 1878 and his two sons Andrew and John continued to trade
as Hunt & Son. Paul died 3 May 1886 at 10 The Crescent, Clontarf aged 70 and was
buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Andrew Carmichael Blair Hunt born 14 April 1849 at Usher’s Island. He married
Lizzie Anderson in 1876 and died in 1912. They are buried at Mount Jerome.
