Frederick Willis born 17 Jul 1804 baptised 15 Aug 1804 at Liverpool son of Richard Willis and
Cicely Fielden of Hurst House, Halsnead (near Prescot) and Hall on the Hill, Lancashire. He
was a captain in the 9th Royal Lancers. He married Elizabeth Louisa Gosset on 18 Jan 1834
at the Chapel Royal, Dublin Castle, the first couple to be married there. Elizabeth was the
eldest daughter of Sir William Gossett, KCH, Under Secretary for Ireland and his wife Gertrude
Martha Daniell. He was part of the lord Lieutenant of Ireland’s household staff holding roles
as master of the horse and later gentleman usher to the Lord Lieutenant. One of his duties
as gentleman usher was to announce guests to The Castle. Each gentleman, and sometimes the
ladies had to bring two cards with their name and address thereon. One was handed in at the
door and the other given to the gentleman usher to announce their name on entering the salon.
They lived at Lis-an-iskea from 1857. Frederick died 16 Mar 1867 at Dublin Castle late of
Lis-an-iskea, Blackrock. He was buried at Mount Jerome. He was survived by his wife Elizabeth
and four sons. Elizabeth moved to England and was living with her brother in law at Hadley in
1871 and at 29, Collingham Place, Kensington in 1881. Elizabeth died 1 May 1897 at 4 Summer
Place, Kensington.

Hurst House.
2 Finch De Anyer Willis (twin) born 2 Nov 1840 at Hurst House took Holy orders. He died a
bachelor on 25 Oct 1869 at Jubbulpore.
3 Frederick De Anyers Willis (twin) born 2 Nov 1840 at Hurst House living at Lis-an-iskea in
1867. He joined the Civil Service and was worked in the Paymaster Generals Office. He
was unmarried and living with his mother in 1881. Frederick married Mary Anne Emily
Senior on 22 Jun 1882 at St Peter’s Cranley Gardens, Kensington. Mary was the eldest
daughter of the late Edward Senior, poor law commissioner of Ashton, Phoenix Park,
Dublin. Mary died 22 Dec 1919 aged 72 at Glassdrummond. Frederick a retired civil
servant of Glassdrummond, Annalong, Co Down died 5 May 1926. No issue found.
4 Emily d’Anyers Willis born 3 Jan 1842 at Dublin Castle died 6 Feb 1847.
5 Annie Phipps De Anyers Willis born circa 1839 died 20 Aug 1842 at Dublin Castle.
6 John Wilbraham Lindsay D’Anyers Willis born 25 Dec 1848 at Dublin Castle baptised at St
Werburgh on 3 March 1849He died in
1872 at Barnet, his brother Frederick his executor.
7 Charles Beaumont D’Anyers Willis born 25 Dec 1851 at Dublin Castle baptised 3 April 1852
at St Werburgh, He was an army cadet based at Woolwich in 1871 and was later with the
Royal Artillery. He died 4 Jan 1931 at West Kensington, London and left 27k in personal estate.
