Andrew Carey born circa 1843 in Westmeath son of Edward Carey. He was a sub constable in
the RIC when he married Elizabeth Hand on 22.05.1871 at Dunshaughlin, Co Meath. Elizabeth
of Barronstown was the daughter of John Hand in 1871; witness Honor Hand. Andrew died at
George’s Street, Drogheda on 23.06.1912; informant his son Joseph. He is buried at
Crickstown/Creekstown cemetery and American newspapers were asked to carry his funeral
notice. Elizabeth died 28.01.1913 at George’s Street, Drogheda.
1 Edward John Carey born 27.02.1872 at Hayes, Navan. Edward a railway worker of 15
Coburg Place, Dublin married Elizabeth Field of 7 Windmill Lane, daughter of Patrick
Field on 04.08.1895 at the Roman Catholic Church of St Andrew, Dublin. They lived in
Barry's Yard in 1911 and four of their eight children survived.

2 William James Carey born 02.12.1873 at Deanhill, Navan, Meath. William an asylum
attendant in Dundrum married Maria Walsh on 11.01.1905 at Holy Cross Chapel,
Dundrum, Dublin. Maria was also an asylum attendant resident at Main Street, Dundrum
and the daughter of Matthew Walsh; witnesses Joseph Carey and Teresa Walsh. William
and Maria lived at 47 Kilmacud Road in 1911 and they had no children. William died of
phthisis on 18.01.1918 aged 44 years at the Central Asylum in Dundrum. Marie worked
as a laundress at St Kevin’s Domestic College after his death.
3 Thomas Carey born 11.01.1876 at Deanhill, Navan.
4 Mary Anne Carey born 21.01.1878 at Hayes. Marion died of phthisis on 21.04.1917 aged 15
years at the Drogheda Workhouse.
5 Isabella Carey born circa 1879 and died on 16.03.1879 aged 5 weeks at Deanhill.
6 Christopher Carey born 20.12.1879 at Hayes. Christopher died on 06.12.1895 aged 16 years
at 84 Windmill Lane, Drogheda.
7 Joseph Carey born 11.08.1883 at Hayes. Joseph, a clerk married Norah Burke of West Street
daughter of Patrick Burke on 28.08.1915 at the Roman Catholic Church of St Peter, Drogheda.
Joseph died on 05.11.1918 aged 35 years at George's Street, Drogheda; informant his wife
Nora.
8 Teresa Carey born 21.10.1890 at Hayes. Teresa died on 19.02.1948 aged 57 years at 16
George's Street, Drogheda.
