John Robert (Robert) Welland born circa 1872 in Limerick son of James Welland, a land Steward
and his wife Margaret Moore. He was a land steward living at Whitestown, Balbriggan and
married Jane Weekes on 27 Sep 1899 at St Mark’s Church, Dublin. Jane was living at Sandwith
Terrace, Sandwith Place, Dublin and was the daughter of Mark Weekes, a farmer of Ardoyne,
Shillelagh and Sarah Kavanagh. They were living at Newtownstalaban, Co Louth in 1901 and at
O’Neill Street, Clonmel in 1911. Robert died in Edenderry in 14 Feb 1960 and Jane died at
Clonmel on 26 Jan 1969.
1 Margaret Welland born 24 Sep 1899 at the Rotunda Hospital, father resident at Sandwith
Terrace. Margaret died 29 Nov 1900 at Balbriggan.
2 Anna Maria Welland born 21 August 1901 at Ardoyne, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow. She stayed in
Ireland and never married.
3 Robert Henry Welland born 31 Jan 1904 in Cullen, Co Meath emigrated to Detroit, Michigan
in 1929 and later to Canada.
4 Mark Edward (Eddy) Welland born 9 April 1906 at Ardoyne, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow emigrated
to Canada.
5 William Cecil George Welland born 30 Dec 1908 at College Street, Clonmel. Cecil William
George Welland was a general man working at Tig Lorcain Hall and married Kathleen Frances
(Kate) Morgan on 28 Oct 1936 at St Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan. Kathleen was living at 2 Pender’s
Cottages, Stillorgan and was the daughter of Robert George Morgan and Catherine Dunden.
Cecil was working with his brother in law Robert Morgan as a demolisher in 1939 at
Worcestershire in 1939 and Kate was living in Leicester. Kate died 14 Feb 1967 in Leicester.
