George Webster born circa 1863 in Scotland son of Alexander Webster. He was a saddler
of Clarence Street, St Ann’s, Shandon, Cork and married Sarah Forde of North Main Street,
Killbrogan on 07.05.863 at Killbrogan Parish Church Brandon. Sarah was the daughter of
George Forde. He moved his business to 81 Main Street, Bandon. George died on New
Years Day 1908, his son George the informant. Sarah died at the Deanery, Roscarberry on
29.12.1929 aged 90, her son Charles the informant.
1 Maria Webster born 07.08.1864 at Bandon. Maria was living with her family in 1901
in Bandon and a visitor to her brother Charles in 1911.
2 George Webster born 18.08.1865 at South Main Street. George also a saddler
living with the family in 1901 in Bandon. George married Marion Pope of Cavendish
Quay, Bandon daughter of William Pope on 21.01.1911 at St Mary’s Parish Church.
3 Rev Charles Alexander Webster born 05.10.1866 at South Main Street. Charles
married Emily Fanny Morley daughter of William Morley on 08.09.1905 at the Parish
Church, Marmullane, Passage West, Cork.
4 Rev John Thomas Webster born 28.06.1869 at South Main Street, Bandon. John of
Munterconnaught, Virginia married Susan Edith Walker of Belturbet daughter of
Robert Walker on 09.01.1901 at Annagh Parish Church, Cavan.
5 Walter Webster born 29.12.1870 at South Main Street. In 1892 he entered the Four
Courts as an official of the Land Registry Department and when he retired was
assistant examiner of Registry of Deeds. He was Parochial Nominator of the Kill
of the Grange Parish for many years. Walter living at Serpentine Avenue married
Susan Charlotte (Lottie) Tibeando daughter of Joseph Anslem Tibeando on
10.08.1898 at St John’s Church, Sidney Parade, Sandymount. The were living at
Warrenville, 82 George's Avenue, Blackrock in 1910 and they lived at Newpark
Lodge from 1914 to 1940. In 1921 they were the victims of a robbery at the
house when cash and jewellery were taken at gunpoint. In 1922 their gatelodge
was used as a safe house by the IRA and two young men were shot dead there in
a raid by the military. Walter was a member of the Merrion Cricket and Stillorgan
Golf Club and he and Lottie bred bantams. Walter was living at Holmsleigh, St
Thomas’s Road, Mount Merrion when he died on 04.11.1951 aged 80 years. The
informant his nephew Herbert Johnston. He was buried at Coolbanagher, Co
Laois. Lottie died at Bushy Park on 18.03.1962 aged 87 and was buried with her
husband.
6 Mary Elizabeth Webster born 17.01.1875 at South Main Street. Mary living with
her mother in 1911 at 13 Farrannasbesbery. Cork. Mary died unmarried on
10.09.1939 aged 64 years at Victoria Hospital, Cork of Brinny Rectory, Upton, Bandon.
7 Rev James Henry Webster born 01.04.1879 at South Main Street. Rector of Rathbarry
and Ardfield died 10.06.1916 aged 37 years at 18 St Patrick’s Place, Cork. James
married Harriet Dora Murphy daughter of Francis H Murphy on 03.07.1907 at St
Anne’s Parish Church, Shandon.
1 Francis George Webster born 06.04.1908 at 18 St Patrick’s Place. Francis died
29.09.1909 aged 1 year 5 months at Listarkin, Myross.
8 Rev Hedley Webster 6th son born 21.07.1880 at South Main Street. Hedley was
educated at Trinity college and ordained in 1904. Curate at St Luke’s and Holy Trinity,
Cork. Incumbent at Kinneigh and Blackrock and was then appointed Archdeacon of
Cork in 1938. He was the 12th Bishop of Killaloe, Kilfenora, Clonfert and Kilmaduagh.
Hedley was living with his brother Francis in 1911 at 53.2 Grand Parade, Cork. Hedley
married Annie Irene Mary Wagentreiber of the Cottage, Balckbuoy, Limerick daughter
of Charles Edwrd Owen Wagentreiber a tea planter on 07.10.1913 at Trinity Church,
Limerick. Hedley died on 28.06.1954 aged 74 years at Riverside, Castle Road, Blackrock,
Cork.
9 Francis Webster born 04.03.1882 at South Main Street. Francis a medical student living
with his brother Hedley in 1911 at 53.2 Grand Parade, Cork.
