Lady Adelaide Charlotte King born circa 1813 youngest daughter of Hon George King and Lady
Helena Moore, the Earl and Countess of Kingstown and granddaughter of Stephen Moore, first
Earl of Mountcashel. She married Charles Tankerville Webber on 2 Aug 1834 at Christchurch,
Marylebone, London. Charles was a barrister and the second son of Daniel Webb Webber and
Sarah Wood of Leekfield, Co Sligo. Their sons attended Bective House Seminary Hospital and
the Rev Dr Stackpoole’s Kingstown School and Lady Adelaide rented Seapoint Manor for the
summer of 1854. They had a very busy social life in both Ireland and England and were
frequent guests of the Lord Lieutenant and at High Society weddings. Adelaide was a patroness
of the Lying In Hospital (Rotunda) and the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers. Charles was
appointed a magistrate for Sligo in 1843. Adelaide received a substantial bequest from her great
aunt Isabella Letitia King in 1845. Her mother died in December 1847 and she was left a further
bequest. Charles died 25 Mar 1854 at Leinster Road, Rathmines. Lady Adelaide was accused of
violently assaulting and slandering Sidney Jane Coape (separated from her husband Henry Coe
Cope and who Adelaide accused of having an affair with Charles Webber). Sidney was also a
relative being a granddaughter of the 2nd Earl of Kingstown. A court date was set for October
1854. Adelaide died 30 Aug 1854 at Summerhill, Dublin.
1 George Daniel Webber eldest son born 23 Jan 1836 at Gloucester Street joined the 17th
Regiment as a junior ensign in the Crimea. He served with distinction in the Ashantee
Campaign and commanded the 2nd west India Regiment. He received a bequest from his
grandmother, the Countess of Kingstown of 2K on attaining the age of 21. He served with
the 2nd West Yorkshire Artillery Volunteers and attained the rank of Brevet Colonel. He
married Charlotte Maria Jeffrey at The Anglican Cathedral Quebec in June 1864. Charlotte
was the daughter of W H Jeffrey of St Ursule Street and partner in the firm of Jeffrey and
Noade & Co. He died on 22 Apr 1883 in London.
1 Edith Kingston Tankerville Webber born 1867 in Farnham, Surrey died unmarried in
1944.
2 Geraldine Webber second daughter born circa 1877 in Quebec married Walter
Cramer Roberts on 28 Dec 1899 at St Paul’s, Onslow Square London. Walter died
12 Mar 1919. Geraldine was a widow living at Kensington in 1921.
1 Judith Annie Cramer Roberts born circa 1910 in Gibraltar living at Castleshane
in 1911.
3 Sybil Francis Webber youngest daughter born circa 1879 in Jamaica married Colonel
Edward Scudamore Lucas-Scudamore of the 4th (King’s) Shropshire Light Infantry of
Pontrilas Court and Kentchurch Court, Hertfordshire and also Castle Shane, Co
Monaghan on 1 Dec 1900 at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge. Earlier that year Edward
had assumed the additional surname and Arms of Scudamore by royal licence. They
divided their time between Castleshane and Kentchurch. Edward Lucas Scudamore-
Lucas died on 9 Mar 1917 at Castleshane, Co Monaghan. His sister in law Geraldine
the informant. Shanecastle was burned to the ground in 1920 and never rebuilt. Sybil
moved back to Kentchurch after the fire and died at Bristol in 1965.
1 John Harford Stanhope Lucas-Scudamore only son born circa 1902 joined the
Royal Navy. He married Elsie Maude Scott in 1926. Elsie was an actress, ten
years his senior and the daughter of the late WP Scott, RN of Burnley, Surrey.
They separated in 1932 and he subsequently figured in a divorce suit. He
secondly married the actress Constance Emmeline Carpenter in 1939 (the day
before war was declared) and later divorced. He thirdly married Lady Evelyn
Patricia Mary Scudamore-Stanhope in 1947.
2 Geraldine Clare Lucas-Scudamore born circa 1903 at Paignton, Devon visiting
her aunt Geraldine with her mother in 1921. She married Lieut Colonel Charles
W Allfrey, DSO in July 1935 and there were 600 guests at the reception.
3 Oriel Leonie Lucas-Scudamore born 28 Jul 1914 at Raglan Road, Dublin living at
Kentchurch in 1921. She became a civil servant and married Guy P Gregson in
1945.
2 Charles Philip Webber second son born 2 Oct 1838 at Gloucester Street. He married
Letitia Marian Johnston on 18 Feb 1868 at Monkstown Parish Church. Letitia was the
eldest daughter of James Johnston DL, JP of Magheremena Castle, Fermanagh. CP was a
JP of Gerib Lodge of Co Sligo. He was British Vice Consul at Arcachon. He died at Villas
Rosa, Arcachon on 24 Nov 1894 aged 56. Marion lived at Leeson Park House with her
sister Rosetta Pim at Leeson Park house for a time and a portrait of her mother in law
Adelaide hung in the dining room. Marian died in Biarritz on 4 Aug 1934.

2 Charles Tankerville Kingston Webber born at Herbert Place, Dublin died in
Bordeaux in the late 1950s.
3 Sarah Webber born 16 Nov 1842 at Upper Gloucester Street died an infant same place on
20 Nov 1842.
4 Daniel Thomas Webber born 7 Nov 1843 at Gloucester Street was a lieutenant in the Royal
Artillery and died in Malta on 25 Feb 1868.
5 Robert Tankerville Webber born 27 Sep 1845 baptised at St George’s at Upper Gloucester
Street was a lieutenant with the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers and attained the rank of major.
He married Isabella Frances Wingfield on 28 Jun 1871 at Abbeyleix. Isabella was the daughter
of the Rev William Wingfield, Vicar of Abbeyleix and they had five children. Robert was later
chief constable at Flintshire and died 14 May 1909 in Wales. Isabella moved back to Ireland
and died at Baldonnell House in 4 Oct 1830.
