Henry Walsh born circa 1838 in Carlow son of Richard Walsh and Alicia Harper. He was a
farmer of Urglin, Carlow when he married Jane Austin on 08.02.1866 at Stapleton Parish
Church. Jane was the daughter of George Austin, a herd for R C Brownshill. Henry died
30.08.1911 at his residence, Rutland, probate to Thomas George Walsh. Jane died
14.04.1924 at Rutland, informant her son Thomas.

in 1901 for the Hogg family at Craigmore, Blackrock with her sister Alice. Mary Jane died
unmarried on 29.02.1924 aged 57 years at Rutland. Informant her brother Thomas.
2 Alice Walsh 2nd daughter born 24.07.1869 at Rutland, Carlow. Alice was working as a
lady’s maid in 1901 for the Hogg family at Craigmore, Blackrock with her sister Mary Jane.
Alice of Rutland married Thomas Glynn on 17.06.1903 at Urglin, Carlow. Thomas was a
constable in the RIC and son of James Glynn. Witness W A Walsh.
3 Sara Walsh born 29.08.1871 at Rutland. Sarah was working as a Matron in 1901 of
Cliftonville Road, Belfast married John Watson a widower and merchant of Knock, Belfast
son of James Watson on 04.10.1905 at Balmoral Methodist Church, Belfast. Witness R
Walsh.
4 Anne Walsh youngest daughter born 12.11.1873 at Rutland married Robert Waldie a
farmer of Monasterboice, Louth youngest son of Robert Waldie on 19.11.1895 at Rutland
Church, Carlow. The family lived in Meath in 1901 and Ballycommon, Kings County (Offaly)
in 1911 and 1926.
5 Margaret Walsh born 13.05.1876 at Rutland and died on 03.12.1876 aged 6 months at
same place.
6 Richard Walsh eldest son born 12.11.1877 at Rutland. Richard a post master in Portarlington
married Annie Lockett only daughter of the late Thomas Lockett of Annesley House, Fairview,
Dublin on 15.09.1909 at Drumcondra Church. Witness W A Walsh.

Johnstown.
8 William Arthur Walsh 3rd son born 05.04.1882 at Rutland, baptised on 18.06.1882 at Urglin.
William of the Royal Garrison Artillery died on 28.12.1916 aged 34 years of wounds received
in action and is buried at Halifax Cemetery.
9 Thomas George Walsh 2nd youngest son born 18.10.1884 at Rutland. Thomas died on
25.06.1954 aged 70 years at Rutland and is buried at Urglin Cemetery.
10 John Charles Walsh born 14.10.1891 at Rutland and baptised on 06.12.1891 at Urglin. John
was living with the family in 1901 and 1911. John was buried on 05.08.1918 aged 26 years at
Urglin.
