John Vincent born circa 1802 son of Rev George Vincent of Shanagolden, Co Limerick and his wife
Elizabeth Gubbins. He was educated privately and admitted Kings Inns. He was a solicitor of
Kildare Street and married Catherine Hickman Clarke at Shronehill Church in July 1831. Catherine
was the eldest daughter of Patrick Clarke of Portarlington and his first wife Mary Hickman. John
was in partnership with his father in law. Katherine’s father (Patrick Clarke*) was murdered on his
estate in 1845 and was buried in Mount Jerome. They family lived at Charlton, Roebuck fro
1862 to 1866. Katherine died 12 Oct 1864 at Dargan Terrace, Bray and was buried at Mount
Jerome. John Vincent, solicitor of South Frederick Street was later in partnership with John Ruckley.
John of 7 Raglan Road committed suicide on 22 May 1869 at the Merrion train crossing after
throwing down his hat and umbrella and stepping in front of a train. He was buried at Mount
Jerome.

2 Elizabeth Victoria Vincent born circa 1835 died at Frescati on 3 Jul 1846 and was buried at
Mount Jerome.
3 John Albert Vincent born 16 Nov 1839 at Leeson Street. He was a captain in the militia and
lived at Millgrove House, Rathangan. He married Mary Letitia Crosthwaite on 17 Apr 1873
at Rathangan Church. Mary was the second daughter of the Rev Charles Crosthwaite of
Rathangan. Mary died a month later aged 22 on 21 May 1873 at Rugby, Warwickshire and
was buried at Mount Jerome. John was living in Salisbury in 1891. He died at Bloomfield on
7 Apr 1932 late of Herbert Place and was buried at Mount Jerome.
4 Malvina Olinda Vincent born 6 Jan 1842 at 134 Leeson Street died 1843 and was buried at
Mount Jerome.
5 Marshal Clarke Vincent born 20 May 1847 at 75 Leeson Street baptised at St Peter’s. He took
Holy orders. He married Helen Elizabeth Crosthwaite on 30 Jul 1879 at St Mary’s Donnybrook.
Helen was the daughter of the Rev Charles Crosthwaite of Clonskeagh, formerly rector of
Rathdangan. They had five children and were living in Nenagh in 1901 and in Bristol in 1921.
6 Arthur Elliott Vincent youngest son born 2 Nov 1852 at 75 Leeson Street baptised at St Peters.
He was a solicitor of Fitzwilliam Street and married Anne Sarah Jane (Annie) Clarke on
6 Sept 1883 at St Stephen’s Church. Annie was the daughter of Rev Marshal Robert Clarke
incumbent of Mountfield, Co Tyrone and his wife Louisa Humphreys. They were living at
Grosvenor Road in 1901. Arthur was a patient in Bloomfield Hospital and went walking with
his wife by the River Dodder near Clonskea on 9 Dec 1907. He went out of her sight and she
next saw him in the river. She jumped in after him and held him until help arrived. He
drowned and it could no be determined if it was deliberate or accidental. He was buried in
Mount Jerome. Ann died at Kenilworth Park on the 12 Jun 1921 aged 59 and was buried with
her husband.
1 John Marshall Vincent only son born 29 Aug 1887 at The Mall, Clontarf living at
Kenilworth Park in 1921. He took Holy orders and mainly held appointments in
England. He married Alice Mary Willes in 1942 and died in 1964 at The Rectory,
Whitechurch, Warwickshire.
7 Mary Jane Vincent born circa 1853 married Robert Vaughan Clarke of Lough Co Kilkenny on
23 Oct 1873 at Todenham Church, Gloucestershire. Robert was the son of the late Robert
Clarke, JP of Bansha House, Co Tipperary. Robert died 20 Mar 1891 at Kilkenny. Mary was
a widow living at Three Castles demesne, Kilkenny in 1901.
*Patrick Clarke born circa 1786 eldest son of Rev Marshal Clarke and Elizabeth Hare was
admitted Kings Inns. He was a wealthy man with considerable property at Glass House,
Portarlington, at Nenagh and a house at 14 Mountjoy Square. He was trice married. He was
murdered on his estate at South Hill, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary on 31 Oct 1845.
