William Samuel Tracy born circa 1798. He was a Sub-Inspector in the Co Sligo Constabulary
and married Margaret Simpson on 25 Aug 1834 as Lisnadell Church, Armagh. Margaret
was the second daughter of the late Thomas Simpson, of Beech Hill, Armagh. William
served as a stipendiary magistrate in various counties including Limerick and Antrim. He
moved to Wicklow in 1862 to take up lighter duties. They lived at 5 Dargan Terrace, Bray
from 1862 to 1868. They lived at El Dorado in 1872. William died 19 Jul 1873 at 102
Stephen’s Green and Margaret died 23 Jul 1883 at 73 Stephen’s Green.
1 Thomas Burrowes Tracy eldest son born 25 Nov 1835. He was educated at the Royal
School of Armagh, graduated Trinity College Dublin and was admitted King’s Inns.
He joined the Bengal civil service in 1857 and served in the provinces of Agra and
Oude filling in succession the posts of magistrate, collector, district judge and Judicial
Commissioner of Oude. He married Frances Mary Maxwell at Cawnpore, Bengal on
16 Mar 1861. Frances was the daughter of Hugh Maxwell. He retired in 1887 and they
were living at 13 Observatory Avenue, Kensington, London in 1891. He died on
14 Sep 1907 at White Cottage, Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.
1 William Maxwell Tracy eldest son born 20 Feb 1862 Cawnpore, Bengal. He was a
captain in the 2nd Queens Regiment and married Amy Lucy Smyth in 4 Jul 1893 at
All Saints Church, Grangegorman. Amy was the eldest daughter of Edward Smyth,
JP of West Bridge House, Enniskillen. He received an OBE in 1919. Lieutenant
Colonel Tracy died 12 Nov 1922 in Nice, France and left 5k in personal estate,
probate to his brother Ralph.
1 Melvin Carew Maxwell Tracey born 28 Mar 1901 at Beachview Terrace,
Greystones, Co Wicklow living in Poole Dorset with his mother in 1911.
2 Mabel Helen Tracy born 7 Mar 1863 at Azimgurk, Bengal married Francis
Corbett on 20 Sep 1883 in Naini Tal, India. Edward was the son of Edward
Corbett. Mabel died a widow in France on 26 Nov 1927.
3 Hugh Francis Tracy born 22 Jan 1865 at Cawnpore, Bengal, India died
21 Sep 1866.
4 Frances Charlotte Tracy born 26 Jan 1866 in Meerut, India. She was living
with the Agar family in Folkestone, Kent in 1901. She died unmarried at
Bournemouth on 23 Sep 1922. She left 6k in personal estate and
administration was granted to her brother Ralph.
5 Maxwell Barnes Tracy born 27 Jun 1867 at Mussoorie, Bengal, India died on
26 Feb 1868 in Bray.
6 Edith Margaret Tracy born 14 Sep 1868 at Brennan’s Terrace, Bray living with
her parents in Kensington in 1891. She married Percy Umfreville on 6 Jul 1897
at St Mary Abbott’s, Kensington. Pervy was a captain in the Queen’s Own Royal
West, Kent Regiment and the son of the late S C Umfreville of Ingress Abbey,
Greenhithe. They were living in Colchester, Essex in 1911.

7 Maud Alice Tracy born 1 Aug 1871 in India married Edward Agar a Captain in
the royal engineers on 25 Sep 1890 at St Stephen’s, South Kensington. Edward
was the only son of the later Major E W Agar, Bombay Army. They were living in
Folkestone, Kent with their three children in 1901.
8 Ralph Stephen Heath Tracy born 26 Dec 1876 at Agra, Bengal. He married
Margaret Pauline (Nina) Pearson in 1902 at Kensington. Nina was the daughter
of Edward Pearson of Morton House, Gainsborough. They lived at Roehampton
in London and Ralph was a tax collector. In 1911 he adopted and assumed the
name Simpson in addition to his own surname by deed pole. This coincides with
the death of Thomas Simpson who died in 1911 leaving an estate of 29K to
whom Ralph acted as an executor. He died 11 Jan 1926.
1 Margaret Florence Simpson Tracy born circa 1908 in Middlesex.
2 Jane Tracy born June 1837. In 1895 she was living at 8 Ruvigny Gardens, Putney and
was admitted to Bethlehem hospital suffering from delusions. In 1896 she was
adjudged a lunatic by her family to preserve her income of 140pa, the return on her
estate of 3k. She died unmarried in Holloway Sanitorium on 3 Jan 1917.
3 Margaret Tracy born February 1839 at Bruff Limerick. She was unmarried and living at
Ruvigny Gardens in 1895 with her sister Jane, and at the same address in 1911.
4 Mary Tracy born June 1842 at Castleconnell, Co Limerick died at Castle Connell in
February 1848.
5 John Tracy second son born 18 Aug 1844. It is thought he went to America in the 1870s.
6 Henry Tracy third son born 4 Oct 1846 at Castleconnell, Co Limerick. He graduated
Trinity and was admitted King’s Inns. He was a barrister of 102 St Stephen’s Green in
1873. He died unmarried 27 Mar 1886 from pneumonia at Maison De Sante Hospital
in Charlemont Street. He was interred at Mount Jerome Cemetery.
7 Maxwell George Tracy born 12 Apr 1848 at Castle Connell took Holy orders. He was
living with his sister at Ruvigny Gardens in 1911. He died unmarried on 21 May 1927 in
Monaco. Probate to Maud Agar.
