Thomson family of Brookfield, Blackrock
Urquhart Thomson a wine merchant married Frances Geale daughter of the late Daniel Geale
in 1804. They lived at 14 Mecklenburgh Street. Frances died on 24.09.1873 at Annemount
near Dundrum and Urquhart died on 17.09.1824 in Dublin.
1 Patrick Thomson eldest son continued his father’s business at 14 Mecklenburgh Street
and died on 07.11.1848 at Mountain View, Upper Mount Pleasant Avenue.
2 Urquhart George Sealy Thomson born circa 1821 in Dublin. He was living at 14 Upper
Mecklenburgh Street and married Catherine Artemisia Carroll on 14.10.1842 at St
George’s Church Dublin. Catherine was of 11 Eccles Street and the 2nd daughter of late
William Carroll. Urquahart was the Chief Clerk in the General Post Office. They lived at
Brookfield, Blackrock in 1858. Catherine died 11.08.1892 at Manvers House, Bradford-on-
Avon, England.
1 Urquhart Thomson eldest son born 21.11.1844 baptised at St Thomas’s, Dublin
died on 31.01.1867 aged 23 years at 99 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin.
2 Hubert Frederick Thomson of the 21st Regiment died on 20.02.1868 at Malta.
3 Dr John Anstruther Mulville Thomson of Newport, Salop born circa 1847 Dublin
eldest surviving son married Rosa McCausland daughter of the late A G Saunderson
McCausland JP of Drumnakilly House, Tyrone on 13.11.1873 at the Holy Trinity
Church, Chester.
4 Dr William Arnold Urquhart Thomson born circa 1847 Dublin married Caroline Ella
Mourant daughter of John Mourant on 01.03.1877 at the Parish Church Marylebone.
William of 21 Priory Road, Bedford Park, Middlesex died on 06.06.1916. Probate to
widow Caroline.
5 Dr Malcolm Edward Thomson a bank clerk married Alice Lee McLaren daughter of
George McLaren on 22.01.1877 at the Parish Church of St George, Hanover Square.
Urquhart married secondly Frances Steele McClatchie daughter of Archibald McClatchie on
13.06.1899 at Blean, Kent. Urguhart died 23.02.1902 at 3 Alexander Buildings, Grosvenor,
Bath, Somerset. Probate to his wife Francis. Frances died on 12.11.1946 in Norfolk.
