Thomas Thompson born circa 1858 in Antrim, son of William John (John)Thompson, a gardener.
Thomas was a gardener living at 6 Cumberland Street when he married Apphia Stevens on
11.01.1878 at St Mary’s Church, Dublin. Apphia of 175 Great Britain Street was the daughter
of Robert Stevens. Witnesses Silas Stevens and Henry Haydock. Apphia died 13.08.1894 aged
50 at the Meath Hospital late of 10 Lower Dorset Street.

Thomas Thompson a widowed gardener of Dundrum married Florence Miles on 04.07.1899 at
Whitechurch Parish Church. Florence, 21 years his junior was a native of Staffordshire and the
daughter of Richard Miles, a game keeper. Witnesses Richard Miles and Mary Thompson. They
lived at Clonard from 1900 to 1908 before moving to Cavan. He worked initially for Dorcas
Smith. His reference from Barrington Jellett of Clonard in 1908, described him as his ‘Head
gardener, a thorough practical man in all branches of gardening; protestant, married with a
small family’. Thomas worked as a land steward for Thomas James Burrowes, JP of Stradone
House, Raheelagh. Thomas died 14.01.1918 at Rahillagh in Cavan, the informant his daughter
Lillie. In 1926 Florence and her children were living at Townparks East, Waterford.
