Thomas Reynolds was a salesmaster and corn merchant of Thomas Reynolds* and Sons at 67
North King Street. In 1817 the partnership of Thomas Reynolds Peter Reynolds and Thomas
Reynolds junior was dissolved and a new partnership was set up between Thomas Reynolds
and Thomas Reynolds junior trading as Thomas Reynold & Son. He had land and a house at
Kinsealy.
1 Thomas Reynolds a salesmaster of North King Street married Catherine Lenehan
daughter of Denis and Mary Lenehan of Queen Street. They lived at Ruby Lodge from
1828. Thomas was treasurer to the Church Street Chapel Charity School fund and a
contributor towards the building of the Pro Cathedral in Marlborough Street. Thomas
was executor to Mary Dunne in 1831 and to Constantine Smyth in 1834. Thomas an
eminent cattle salesmaster and corn merchant died intestate at Ruby Lodge, Williamstown
on 10 Jul 1834 and is buried at Glasnevin**. Ruby Lodge and its contents were put up for
sale in August 1834. He left 25k in personal estate. Catherine died 25 Nov 1870 aged 65
at Somerton Lodge, Rochestown Avenue, the residence of her son in law J P Corcoran.
She is buried at Glasnevin.
1 Mary Alicia Reynolds only daughter born November 1828 baptised at Booterstown
married James Patrick Corcoran at 58 Upper Dominick Street on the 30 Sep 1850.
The marriage was registered at St Michan’s. James was a corn merchant of James’
Street. They lived at Somerton Lodge from 1859. James died 20 Jun 1881 aged 60
at Somerton. Mary died 5 Jan 1888 at Neptune Terrace, Sandycove. Her funeral
mass was held at St Joseph’s, Glasthule and she is buried at Glasnevin.
1 Patrick J Corcoran born circa 1857 living at Marine Terrace in 1888. He was
an auctioneer of Rathsteward, Athy when he married Annie O’Neill on
29 Apr 1895. Annie was the daughter of Dr Patrick Laurence O’Neill of Geraldine,
Athy. Patrick’s brother Father Corcoran assisted at the marriage ceremony.
They were living at Rathsteward in 1911 and had no children. Patrick died
1 Feb 1931 and is buried at St Michael’s Cemetery, Athy.
2 Son Corcoran born 27 Aug 1860 at Somerton Lodge.
3 Son Corcoran born 28 Sep 1861 at Somerton Lodge.
4 Catherine (Kathleen) Corcoran third daughter born circa 1865 died 10 Mar 1883
at Somerton Lodge and is buried at Glasnevin.
5 Daughter Corcoran born 6 Jan 1868 at Somerton.
6 John Corcoran fourth son born circa 1873 at Kingstown. He was a maltster
and secretary to the Kildare Agricultural Society and died unmarried on
8 Feb 1925 at Rathsteward, Athy.
2 Thomas Reynolds born at Ruby Lodge in January 1834 baptised at Booterstown.
3 Daughter Reynolds married John Morgan of Deens Co Meath in September 1806.
It is thought Thomas secondly married Miss Dona of Dunboyle, Co Meath in September 1806.
He died 4 Sep 1823 aged 73 at his house in North King Street.
*Mary Reynolds born circa 1768. She was of Pierstown when she married Constantine Smyth, a
grocer and seed merchant of North King Street in November 1793. He hosted the wedding of
his niece Catherine Julia Reynolds in 1827. Constantine died at Blackhall Street on 5 Jul 1833
aged 79. He left 9k in personal estate and probate was carried out by Thomas Reynolds of Ruby
Lodge. Mary died on 17 Nov 1838 at Kingstown.
