NAME Stonehouse/Stone House
AREA LOCATION Stillorgan N11 opposite UCD
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of
Owenstown/Trimleston and it is annotated as Stonehouse and
Stone House respectively.
GENERAL Stone House, Stillorgan Road on 4 acres with gatelodge and paddocks
was up for sale in 1932. Described as a handsome double fronted detached non basement
residence with ornamental porch, good hall with a spacious lofty drawing room and dining
room. The hall had a wide staircase with handsome balustrade. It had a study, five family and
two maids rooms. It had two bathrooms, kitchen with modern range and pantries. Outside it
had a haybarn, stabling, garden, paddocks with a dairy, outoffices and a large garage. The
gatelodge was later called Glenomena/Glenomena Post Office and currently called Stone Lodge.
The pillars from the original entrance are still extant.

VALUATION In 1912 the valuation was 38 pounds and in the 1911 census it is
noted as having 10 rooms occupied by the family.
