Poulett George Henry Somerset born June 1822 son of General Lord Charles Henry Somerset
and his wife Lady Mary Poulett. He was the grandson of Henry, second Duke of Beaufort.
He was educated at Eton and the Royal Military College at Sandhurst and attained the rank of
Colonel in the Coldstream guards. He married Barbara Augusta Nona Mytton on 15 Apr 1847
at St George’s, Hanover Square. Barbara was the daughter of the late John Mytton of Halston
and Caroline Mallet Giffard. He was nominated Companion of the Bath in 1855. He was a
magistrate and DL for the County of Monmouth from 1859 resigning in 1863. Poulett served
as ADC to his uncle, Lord Raglan, during the Crimean War. He fought at the Alma, Balaclava,
and Inkermann. Barbara died 4 Jun 1870 aged 47 at Bruton Street, London.

2 Vere Francis John Somerset eldest son born 1854 baptised 27 Jan 1855 Whitchurch,
Shropshire. He married Annette Catherine Hill on 23 Dec 1875 at Prees, Shropshire.
Annette was the youngest daughter of Colonel Richard Frederic Hill. Annette died on
5 Oct 1889 at Prees aged 39. Vere died a widower on 10 Oct 1909 at The Hall, Prees.

3 Henry Charles Fitzroy Somerset born circa 1860 at Egham. He was a captain in the
Shropshire Militia. He was cited in the divorce case of Percy Radcliffe and Amy Cox in
1888. He married Amy Cox after her divorce in 1889 at The Strand, London. She was
the daughter of Henry Cox of Dutton Lodge, Cheshire. She died aged 28 on 27 Jun 1889
at Worcester.
He secondly married Barbara Saltar Cichran nee Henderson widow of the late James
Alfred Cochran of North Wakool Statoon, Riverina Australia on 17 Apr 1894 in London.
Barbara died 17 Oct 1894 at Trederwen Llansaintffraid, Montgomeryshire aged 29.
He thirdly married Isabella Goodsir Mowat on 22 Jul 1897 at Inchalock, Dunbartonshire.
Isabella was the widow of John Anthony Inglis and the daughter of the late John Bailie
Mowat. Henry died 28 Jul 1925 at Ross on Wye survived by his widow and two sons.
Isabella died 13 Feb 1941 off Cubberly, Ross. She left 48k in personal estate.

2 Charles Alexander Somerset born circa 1900.
He secondly married Emily Moore on 10 Sep 1870 St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Emily of Lower Leeson
Street and Cherry Hill, Cheshire was the second daughter of John Hubert Moore. She was also the
grandniece of H Butler Moore of Shannon Grove, Co Galway. They were at Homestead by 1873.
Poulett died 7 Sep 1875 at Homestead, Dundrum and left 1500 in personal estate. He was buried
at St John, Egham, probate to his widow Emily of 23 Waterloo Road, Dublin.
4 Cecily Mary Poulett Somerset born 8 Sep 1871 at Blackrath, Naas. She married William
Francis Annesley Wallace on 15 Apr 1896 at St Bride’s, Fleet Street, London. William was a
late captain in the 53rd Regiment and of Tullygarvan, Co Down. They lived at Hadnall,
Ellesmere, Shropshire in 1901 and William was retired. Cecily died a widow in 1951 in
Kensington.
1 Catherine Cecily Wallace born 8 May 1897 at Whitechurch, Shropshire.
Emily secondly married Richard John Kinkead in 1882. Richard was a medical doctor based in
Tuam and she had three further children. Emily died in 1919.
