Rodolph Henry Scully born 12 Mar 1812 son of Denys Scully and Catherine Eyre. He was living
at Warley Lodge, Essex and married Mary Rebecca Lough on 20 Nov 1851 at St Marylebone
Church. Mary was the elder daughter of John Graham Lough, a sculptor of Harewood Square,
London They were living at 28, Upper Hamilton Terrace, Marylebone, London in 1861. Mary
died at Hamilton Terrace on 12 Aug 1871. Rodolph died 6 Aug 1876 at Goodwood Lodge, Lee
Park, Kent.
1 James Rodolph born 7 Oct 1852 at Gloucester Place, London died in 1852.
2 James Rodolph Scully born 5 Sep 1853 married Annie Mary O'Neil in 1876. They lived
at Rickmansworth, Watford and James was the manager of Salter’s Brewery. They had
at least six children. James died a widower on 16 Dec 1923.
3 Rodolph Francis Thomas Scully born 28 Jan 1855 at Inwood, Somerset and emigrated
to the United States circa 1878. He married Elizabeth Lynch in 1886 and had issue. He
died 27 Jan 1934 at Hempstead, Nassau, New York.
4 Reginald William Scully born 5 Feb 1856 at Inwood, Somerset, England was educated
at Esh in Durham. He qualified as a physician and surgeon but never practiced. He
married Catherine Mary Bertha (Bertha) Murphy on 12 Feb 1895 at the Oratory, Clifton,
Cork. Bertha born 19 Dec 1866 at Lansdown Park, Cork was the daughter of Francis J
Murphy of 5 Sydney Place, Cork and Mary Waldron. Reginald’s passion was wild plants.
He acquired his knowledge of Irish flowering plants by field-work with the help of
Maude Jane Delap of Valencia, Kerry. He was a regular contributor to The Irish
Naturalist: a monthly journal of general Irish natural history and was considered to be
one of Ireland’s leading botanists. They were living at Fitzwilliam Street upper in 1901
and they lived at Rockfield, Dundrum from 1907 to 1923 and had no issue. Reginald
was co author to Cybele Hibernica, being outlines of the geographical distribution of
plants in Ireland and in 1916 author of The Flora of Kerry. Reginald died at The Grove,
Rushbrook, Cobh on 27 Apr 1935 and Bertha died on 25 Jan 1937 same place.
5 Thomas Vincent Scully born 1 May 1857 at Inwood, Somerset. He was a barrister and
married Rosa Victoria Scully on 8 Aug 1878 at St Jame’s Church, Spanish Place, London.
Rosa was the daughter of Vincent Scully, QC & MP of Merrion Square and Mantle Hill,
Co Tipperary. They lived at Norwood, Uxbridge and later at Wimbledon. Thomas died
11 Jan 1933 at Wimbledon and Rosa died 30 Apr 1944. They had no issue.
6 Arthur Charles Scully infant child died 30 Nov 1863 at 28 Upper Hamilton Terrace.
