Michael Rynne, ironmonger and hardware merchant of Ennis. He married Eliza Lysaght on
1 Jul 1855 at Drumcliffe. They moved to Springfield House, Limerick circa 1884. He acquired
a considerable amount of property in the town of Ennis. He died on 23 Dec 1895 at
Springfield, Ennis, Co Clare and was buried at Drumcliffe. Eliza died 7 Sep 1907 at Springfield
House. Her funeral mass was held at the Cathedral and she was interred in the family plot.
1 Christopher Lysaght Rynne born circa 1860. He was living with his widowed mother in
1901. He was a JP and merchant and died unmarried on 5 Feb 1913. His sisters Alice
and Minnie were his executors.
2 Michael Andrew Rynne born 29 Sep 1867 at Jail Street, Ennis. He married Mary O’Mara
at St Michael's R C Church, Limerick on 1 Sep 1898. Mary was the daughter of alderman
and former mayor of Limerick Stephen O’Mara and his wife Ellen Pigott. Michael was a
doctor in Totton near Southampton and took over the practice of Dr Prance of
Cheltenham in 1907. He died suddenly at 1 Osborne Villas, Queens Road, Cheltenham
on 20 Jul 1907. He collapsed in the bathroom and his brother in law Stephen O’Mara, a
bacon merchant of Hartstonge House, Limerick, who was a visitor to the house, broke
down the door and found him dead. His body was repatriated and he was buried at
Drumcliffe. Mary returned to Ireland after her husband’s death and was living with her
widowed father at Strand House, Limerick in 1911. Her sister Ellen married James Mark
O’Sullivan, a New York, lawyer and later co founder of the Irish Film Company of Ireland.
Senator O’Mara, Mary’s father died in 1926 and left 42k in personal estate which was left
to his children. She moved to Airfield, Stillorgan Road from 1931 to 1935 before settling
at Greenfield, Milltown Road, Dundrum. She died 6 Feb 1961 late of Milltown at St
Vincent’s Private Nursing Home on Leeson Street and was buried at Drumcliffe.

He was educated at Clongowes and attended NUI. He was a staff captain GHQ
during the War of Independence and was called to the Bar in 1924. He married
Nathalie Fournier at the Church of Notre Dame d’Anteuil, Paris on 3 Sep 1931.
Natalie was the second daughter of Monsieur and Madame Fournier of Chateau
Thrivolette Bouge, Auvergne and Rue du General Largeau Auteuil, Paris. They were
living at Airfield, Stillorgan with his mother when their twins were born in 1932.
Michael was a legal advisor and was head of the League of Nations with the
Department of Foreign Affairs in 1939. He was appointed ambassador to Spain in
1955 and presented his credentials to General Franco. He retired in 1962 and they
lived at Sydenham, Dundrum from 1965 until his death.
2 Stephen O'Mara Rynne born 1901 at New Forest, Hampshire. He was educated at
Clongowes and attended university in Reading. He was a farrier living at Prosperous,
Co Kildare and married Alice Curtayne on 14 Feb 1936 at Tarbert Church, Co Kerry.
Alice was the daughter of John Curtayne, a coach builder of Castle Street, Tralee, and
his wife Bridget May O'Dwyer. Stephen was the author of a number of books, including
The Trials of an Irish Guide. He was a prominent member of Muintir na Tíre and
published a biography of Fr John Hayes, its founder. He was a journalist and radio
broadcaster in later life. Alice was also an author, mainly biographies on the lives of
saints and scholars.
3 Mary Rynne born 1904 at New Forest, Hampshire. She was a writer a playwright and
her play The Pilgrims was staged by The Abbey Theatre in 1938. She also contributer
short stories about her travels and reviews to the The Leader newspaper.
3 Ursula (Minnie) Rynne elder daughter born 12 Mar 1870 at Jail Street, Ennis. She married
Timothy Joseph Hunt, solicitor of Claremorris on 28 Nov 1903 at the Jesuit Church, Gardiner
Street. Timothy was the son of John Hunt a merchant. In 1911 they were living at Abbey
Street, Ennis and had no children.
4 Alice Rynne born June 1872 at Jail Street, Ennis died in 1874.
5 Alice Rynne born 29 Jul 1874 at Jail Street, Ennis. She married James Glynn at
Clarendon Street Church in 18 Feb 1908. James was a bank manager living at Loughrea
and the son of John Glynn, a merchant. They were living at Main Street, Loughrea in 1911.
