1 Ellen Delany born circa 1866 died 24 May 1878 at Merville, Ellen Ryan the
informant. She was buried at Deansgrange and James Ryan made the funeral
arrangements.
2 Lucy Delany born circa 1870 died 1 Nov 1876 at Merville, Ellen Ryan the informant.
She was buried at Deansgrange and James Ryan made the funeral arrangements.
3 Florence Delany born circa 1875 died 19 Jul 1877 at Merville, Margaret Delany the
informant. She was buried at Deansgrange and James Ryan made the funeral
arrangements.
2 Patrick Ryan born circa 1861 in County Dublin. He was living at Dundrum and married Mary
Ready on 7 Nov 1885 at the Pro Cathedral, Dublin. Mary was living at 5 Mountjoy square
and was the daughter of William Ready and Bridget Farrell of Clondalkin. They lived at
Merville until circa 1893. Patrick was working for Captain W A Hardy of Seafield in 1901 and
for the Nutting family at St Helens in 1911 and three of their four children survived. Mary
died 19 Sep 1950 at 63 Ballinteer Road and was buried at Deansgrange. Patrick died
10 Feb 1953 at 63 Ballinteer Cottages and was buried with his wife.
1 Mary Ryan born 16 Aug 1886 as Foster Avenue. Mary was living at Glenomena and
married widower Edward Mason on 17 Apr 1922 at St Mary’s Haddington Road.
Edward was working as a handyman at St Helen’s, Stillorgan at the time of his marriage
and had fathered at least eight children from his previous marriage. He worked at
Roebuck house in 1924 and at Gortmore for the Lefroy family as a gardener from 1929
to 1932. They lived in a cottage on the Gortmore estate and moved to Ballinteer Park
in 1940. Mary died 4 Dec 1948 aged 62 at 63 Ballinteer Cottages. Her funeral mass
was held at Holy Cross Church, Dundrum and she was buried at Deansgrange (she was
survived by one son, daughters, and her parents). Edward died 7 Feb 1961 at 63
Ballinteer Cottages, his daughter Margaret, the informant. He was buried with his wife.
1 Margaret Mary Mason born 31 Jan 1923 at Holles Street Hospital. She married
John Leslie in 1950.
2 Angela Mason born 17 May 1924 at Holles Street Hospital emigrated to London,
where she worked as a nurse.
2 James Ryan born 5 Oct 1887 at Merville Cottage, Foster Avenue. James joined the RIC.
James a retired RIC sergeant died unmarried on 31 Aug 1939 at Sandyford Road and was
buried at Deansgrange.
3 Joseph Ryan born 14 Nov 1891 at Merville Cottage, Foster Avenue living with his
parents in 1911.
