Thomas Roe, a farmer married Bridget Conlon at Sandyford Church on 26 May 1839. Their
witnesses were James Dwyer and Ellen Doyle. Bridget died aged 35 on 19 Jul 1849 buried at
Glencullen. Thomas died 29 Jul 1890 and was buried at Glencullen.
1 Hugh Roe baptised in Sandyford in 1841 married Mary Byrne from Barnaculia, daughter of
Laurence Byrne a stone mason at Sandyford on 12 Oct 1874. They had 9 children, all of whom
had survived in 1911.
1 Thomas Roe, eldest son born 25 Sep 1875 at Ballybetagh was a stonecutter and a quarry
owner by 1911. He died a bachelor, late of Ballybetagh on 19 Nov 1939 at Jervis Street
Hospital.
2 Bridget (Bridie) Roe born 9 Apr 1877 at Glencullen.
3 Laurence Roe born 12 Oct 1878 at Glencullen. He married Agnes Behan from Basin
Lane, daughter of Christopher Behan, a publican at St James’ Church on 20 Apr 1910. He
was vice president of the Young Farmers Club and a member of the Rathdown Rural
Council. He died in a farming accident on his farm at Jamestown, Kilternan on 8 Oct 1947.
He was survived by his wife (a sister of Canon Behan, pp of Arklow), five sons and a
daughter. He was uncle by marriage to Christopher Eustace Reddin, secretary of the
Vintners Protection Association.

married Charles J Lynch of Maretimo Gardens at Our Lady of the Wayside Church
on 27 March 1940.

3 Michael Christopher Roe born 9 Nov 1918 at Jamestown, Glencullen became a
veterinary surgeon and was living in Naas in 1947.

Annie Deering of Stepaside at Sandyford Church on 21 May 1883. Annie was born circa 1857
and was the daughter of James Deering, a Blacksmith. They lived at Ballybetagh Road. John
died 26 May 1891 at Glencullen and Annie carried on the farm. She died at Glencullen on
19 Apr 1933.

3 James Roe born 13 Jun 1887 at Glencullen was a stonecutter living at Ballybetagh. He
married Catherine Doyle of Balrncullia on 26 Apr 1910 at Sandyford. He worked for
the County Council. Catherine died 17 Apr 1940 at St Columcille's Hospital.

married Ellen Curran at Bray Church on 20 Sep 1936. Ellen was the daughter of
John Curran, a labourer.
2 Anne Roe born 6 Dec 1913 at Kilternan married John Curran at Glencullen Church
on 1 Aug 1937. John was living at Greenhill, Tallaght and was the son of William
Curran.
3 Patrick Joseph Roe born 14 Mar 1916 at Kilternan died 10 Jun 1916 at Kilternan.
